So we needed a legit top 6 winger, a 3C under contract who can play 2C going into the playoffs, and an upgrade over Dowling, Haula, Bastian, and/or Lazar.

We got an enigmatic journeyman scoring W who couldn't make the Kraken roster, a mediocre veteran rental LD, and a 26 year old journeyman 3/4C who might be a minor upgrade over what we already have.

On the bright side, at least we didn't trade away Gritsyuk or Hameenaho for a rental.

Doumolin stabilizes the D with the injuries there so we're somewhat around where we were before Seigs went down.

Bratt-Hischier-Noesen - this is defensible as a top 6 line!
Palat-Mercer-Meier - Maybe Meier can just make shit happen Kovalchuk circa 2008 style?
Cotter-Haula-Sprong - If you squint really hard, this could be Hughes-Haula-Toffoli. No I mean like really, really hard
Lazar-Glass-Tatar - shifting Lazar away from C and getting Bastian off their line is just what they needed, baby!

That third line is going to be an abomination defensively especially with how bad Haula is this year. Would flip Nose and Meier but it's probably on par with what we'll see

I think deciding to win via defense/suppressing chances against is actually somewhat reasonable. I'm unconvinced Dumoulin was worth the price paid, but I can squint and see the thinking behind the moves (Glass is supposedly strong defensively).

If I'm not shitposting, that's exactly what the plan is. They're already one of the better defensive teams in the league with strong goaltending for once. Glass is a solid defensive center and I really could see his presence helping at least a one of the struggling bottom sixers improve in a different role. Will need the big three forwards to play out of their mind the rest of the way, though.
