That’s fair, Shero definitely gave a better presser although Fitz was definitely meme worthy (for all the wrong reasons) with some of his.

On a side note, this is the lowest I've felt with this core and might be in general. At least in the Lou era, I knew a rebuild was coming and we could have somewhat a good team just that it would take ass load of time. Now, I just don't know when we'll have a good team......

The east is totally wide open this year. I know Florida looks good but unless Tkachuk comes back, I wouldn't fear them.

The West on the other hand is going to be a blood bath...

The winner of the Atlantic bracket is going to be absolutely destroy the winner of the Metro bracket unless the former has absurd injuries coming out of it. Every Atlantic team is better than every Metro team. Caps won't last in the playoffs

He at least did something with the 2 lottery picks. Just getting lottery picks doesn't guarantee anything. Up to this point I've said I think Fitz is a mediocre gm. Nothing great but could do a lot worse...but I think it's time for him to go. But I am very scared who the replacement would be. I have negative trust in the new leadership

He went into the season with Haula and Lazar as our bottom 6 centers. Let that sink in for a moment. What a slack jaw piece of shit.
 
If you told me in May of 2023 that the Devils next playoff berth would take another 3 years or more and Tom is still GM then I’d say to lay off the crack.

There is no way I see Tom as GM if they miss out. These last two seasons were not only a loss but set the franchise back on the forward side. Just insane vision on the forward group.

I think the rumors of us not waiving the white flag swirling this week led to a sense of expectations that weren't particularly realistic. We don't have a ton in the prospect pool and I'm not entirely sure we should've paid the high cost for some of the guys that moved today. Should we have walked away with Sprong, Dumoulin, and Cholowski? f*** no, but we're very clearly not in a place where giving up a first makes sense.

Hearing Fitz talk in his presser wasn't exactly inspiring. His repeated use of "size" is annoying. We don't need to get bigger, we need skill. Our bottom 6 forwards do nothing. They're not going to contribute anything offensively and they're not particularly good defensively so maybe Sprong and Glass help but I wouldn't count on it doing much. I sincerely think we miss playoffs in what can only be viewed as a massive disappointment and perhaps the most disappointing season in quite a while which says something. Fitz's seat should be VERY hot.

Holtz turning out the way he did was a significant gap to overcome.

That pick should be a productive forward for this team right now and the fact that he was pure bust created a lot of problems.

Whoever was responsible for that pick shouldn't work for this organization.

You guys didnt want him to go all-in with the injuries and he didn't.

Solidified the completely barren center position throughout the organization. Our center depth was Hughes - Hischier - Haula - Dowling - nothing. Now they at least have centers in the AHL and an actual center on the 4th line. Dowling can go back to being a 3rd line AHLer.

Also did something with Kovacevic. RHD is nhl gold and there's currently a lot of value there on the team.

I don't know man... I think Cotter and Noesen were exactly what he was talking about and I also think they have both been successful acquisitions. Noesen has been beyond expectations.

From my perspective the core is a much bigger problem. It's not that they're bad, it's just they're not good enough to move this team into the upper echelon and need lots of help to be effective.

Jack is good enough, its just he's made of paper mache and toothpicks

Shero was worse than Fitz, Shero had no idea or vision on how to build an NHL defense. His main accomplishment was not saddling the team with awful contracts when he got fired. The next GM has his fair share of those to dump if Fitz goes this offseason.

It's nauseating at this point. It's almost like he's not aware that these are the types of guys who have us where we are right now and he seemingly drafts them to get rid of them a few months later. Graham and Traff were literally drafted last year and we got basically nothing in return for them besides a fringe NHLer and a shitty 4C although Glass is a minimal upgrade over Dowling.
