Trenin is one of the players that could be signed and make the offseason a win regardless of other moves. I know some will bristle just because he's a player that stats crew likes, but he would go a very long way toward fixing several issues from last season. He can play physical, PK, and he genuinely contributes to progressing the game rather than just avoiding getting caved in as a 4th liner.

Not asking him to be a regular. If he's bought out, he's not signing elsewhere for money to begin with. He'd be the 22-23 version of Brendan Smith and as bad as Trouba stinks in general, his PK impacts are very good

He'll get signed. Buffalo just paid Erik Johnson $3.25m to waste space performing at an AHL level AND they got the Flyers to trade for him so he can perform at an AHL level there also.

All of that only because he plays RD.

That's fair. I think Johnson getting paid is more in the ilk of Palat signing with us than a Trouba signing if he's bought out. Young team needing veteran leadership that slightly overpays for a player. (Palat's a better player than both guys mentioned before I'm attacked  )

If you have fubo. Watch the Michael Kay show tonight from the beginning.

The copium is copin'

Trying to say the Rangers should have swept the Devils last year and played their worst game of the season on Saturday.

Beautiful stuff.

I just want to post this move again by Bratt because....DEVILS, baby.

Okay you can all go back to talking about Trouba for some reason....

Weak Euro Jesper Bratt :sarcasm: goes end to end, through a check, to score the go ahead goal with ~1 minute left in the game.

When I think of wussy Euro players :sarcasm:then I also want to post this one too.

Hmm. Maybe we can sign him, kneecap him on day 1 so he's on LTIR and comes back for the playoffs.

I hate the guy, hate the player, but we require what he's got if we don't get it anywhere else bc this team isn't making it to the Finals with the current lineup unless Fitz adds a hell of a lot of salt.

Need @My3Sons opinion on this
If they can sign him for less than the amount that can be buried in the AHL for a season and send him out there on a third pair to purposely injure the best players on the other team as needed, sure, but I'd prefer that sort of player as a forward where he can be hidden to some extent. We saw what happens when Trouba's lack of ability intersects with his attempted cheap shots and it isn't good. He can't be whiffing on guys and creating two on ones down low because he can't even properly hurt the players on the other team.

I would absolutely love that 4th line. Carrier is a guy that can also pretty reasonably play up the lineup too.

They do need a solid top-six winger in addition to those guys though.
Maybe Reilly Smith is a decent unsexy trade option? A good amount of playoff success, can play on PK and PP, brother of a Devils legend. 1 more year at 5 mil. Didn’t have a great year in Pittsburgh, probably wouldn’t cost much at all.

Wouldn't cost much no. But he really wasn't good this season.

If the price is super cheap (basically zero), I'd be interested. If the Devils have to expend any assets, I wouldn't be.

If we don't make a move for a legit top 6 player you guys think Pavelski is a decent backup option?

-Even if his underlying really declined and he might finally fall off there isn't a ton of risk on a 1 year deal
-Bridges very nicely to Gritsyuk
-Lets us use other assets on bolstering up the bottom 6 or for a potential LHD or goalie

No, he's shot.
