the ranker gave up halfway.

Cam Squires had a terrific season and playoffs.

Barabosha spent his year evenly split between the VHL and KHL and didn't look out of place in the KHL I believe he was mentioned as being mentioned as a top rookie at some point in the season.

Insert those two and and take out Foote and Stillman and it looks a lot better.

I didn’t even notice 6-10.

I was taken aback by Clarke still in the top-5. I thought maybe this was an old post lol. But an old post wouldn’t have had him that high.

I gotta think this year’s first round pick (if we keep it) will immediately move to 2nd or 3rd, potentially even 1st.

prospect rankings are useless for this team. we have one of if not the best crop of under 25 and under 23 talent in the league. just because they’re. playing for the squad already doesn’t mean our future isn’t extremely bright.

id reather be where we are than be without players in the nhl but high prospect rankings

Bottom 10 isn't good. It means you traded away too many high picks and/or busted on all your high picks.

Top 10 is filled with teams that have multiple top 10 OA picks so its not good to be there either.

Ideally the team finds itself in the middle of the pack for a while.

what "high picks" did we trade away? Minus the trade for Meier last year, basically none.

Prospect ranking are stupid because any team at most has 3-4 prospects that will make an actual impact on the NHL and these rankings ranking like 15 players.

Mukh traded, Stillman looked like a bust since the day he was drafted, 2021 2nd rounder traded, 2023 first rounder traded.
Thats 3 first rounders and a 2nd rounder that could be propping up the prospect rankings.

They also traded away their 2023 and 2022 3rd rounders.

The Hockey News had Winnipeg like 7 years ago as the best prospect pool in the NHL and said they will in a Cup somewhat soon. Fast forward to present day and they have never even came close. The rankings aren't the be all end all of what the franchise will do in the immediate future. So many other things factor in and it also doesn't factor in how much often alot of these players becomes busts' or never live up to the potential.

Foote will play more NHL games if stays healthy, Stillman might hang on as an energy guy. Both are signed (unlike Squires).

If you want to add Cam Squires, dump Samu Salminen.

He sucks, probably won’t sign with us, and likely instead f***s off back to Sweden after he graduates.

Barabosa is still a long shot as a 7th Rd pick, particularly one not playing in the KHL full-time and one not producing. He’s going to marinate for awhile since he’s signed with KHL team until 25/26. You can probably put Edwards in front of Barabosa.

And none of that changes the ranking.

The other thing to consider about prospect rankings, beyond what's been said, is that prospect ranking in June, before the draft, is especially silly.

Now would I have Orlov, a player who played in 60 KHL games for a top squad despite being only 20 years old, in the top 10, instead of Salminen? Yes, I would. I'd also have Squires in there instead of Stillman, I think.

Forgot about him because I only looked at players the Devils drafted. Yes, absolutely sub him in for Clarke or Stillman. Diotte is worth consideration too, as is Halonen.

I just can't abide Greame Clarke in a prospect ranking. I'll be surprised if he is in the organization come September. He will have a long pro career as an AHL/European top line player. He's just not an NHL-quality player without serious improvement.

Mukh and the '23 first brought us a top line power forward.
