You want crazy, check out this scenario that is not entirely impossible.

Columbus loses their next 4 in a row means we have to win 2 of our remaining 4 and we go into the playoffs with 89 points. Sounds crazy, right?

Columbus plays 5 games in 7 nights, including 4 in 5. the Isles are 5-0-2 in their last 7 and 6-2-2 in their last 10. Then you have Phoenix followed by Dal on back to back nights, both teams fighting for a playoff spot. Follow that with Tampa Bay who will likely be fighting for home ice followed by Florida on back to back. For probably 2 games they will likely rely on their backup goalie unless they want to risk exhausting Bobs, which I am ok with :)

If I were a Columbus fan, I would not have warm fuzzies about the next week.

They'll play Bobrovsky, just like we're playing Cory. It's selective reasoning to talk about how they might 'wear him out' and ignore the fact Cory could wind up playing eight games in fourteen days.

If the Isles somehow pull it out today/tomorrow, I'll start believing. That Buff SO loss still haunts me. That was the win they needed to really make me feel it was a possible miracle run in the making.

We just need to keep winning, the chips will falll as they will out of town. Isles and Sabres suck, but they got tough competition ahead. Plus the Wings aren't clear yet either.

Just need to keep winning and try to get to 92.

Need Phoenix and Dallas to win now that the Islanders crapped out.

Dallas would be behind the 8-ball because the NHL in all of its "wisdom" decided to restart the postponed game(The Peverley incident) with the BlueJackets having a 1-0 lead.

Yes.....A Full 60 minutes with the BlueJackets having a 1-0 lead from the start!!

Either you start off where the game stopped OR you restart the game(and score) CLEAN!!! :banghead:

The NHL has further screwed us.

The game was five minutes old...if anything it gives Dallas five extra minutes to catch up, it's not screwing us.

Ya and they did a similar thing last year with a Wings game I believe. They aren't screwing anyone.

If Dallas can't overcome a 1 goal deficit over 3 periods when they are fighting for their playoff lives, then they wouldn't have a chance at 0-0.

To me, it will be that lost weekend in Florida that will end up killing the Devils this year (well, along with their ineptitude in shootouts). They needed at least 3 points out of 4 that weekend and got 0 points.

Phoenix = Fighting for their playoff survival
Dallas = Fighting for their playoff survival
Tampa = Fighting for a home ice round

It's all the Devils games + the Florida game that should scare people.

Even Florida could surprise.

I've seen it MANY times where a terrible team treats that last game of the year and the spoiler opportunity like their Stanley Cup Final Game 7*

*Including Ottawa vs New Jersey in 1996

These remainiing teams :

Flames
Senators
CRAP-landers
Bruins

Well....we all know that the Bruins could field a bunch of Bruins fans instead of actual players, and they'd STILL manage to beat the Devils.

But these next 3 teams are teams(especially the final two) that can very well put an end to our very slim playoff hopes.

What we have here are basically 4 straight "GAME 7's".

Agreed. I'm less worried about the out of town scoreboard and more worried about our games

Already been said tomorrow nights game could be a toe stubber and it's true. Never mind our trouble winning 3 in a row. The Ottawa game scares me too but I will feel better if we get over the 4 game winning streak hump.

Ugh the Senators game YUCK. I know we beat them like 5-2 last time, but it always seems like they beat us by scoring 2 goals on 13 shots. And we score like 2 goals on 40+ shots.

With the injuries and the fatigue the guys must obviously have, that game because it is on the road feels like a damn trap. If we even get to it alive. Flames game might be one too. If they don't get healthy bodies left they are going to have to will themselves to a victory.

Only blessing is that tonights game is at home, I guess.

Let's hope they can use the home-ice atmosphere as some good Mojo and get a victory somehow tonight.

2 games back of Detroit, 1.5 games back of Columbus. We own the tiebreaker with Detroit. We have to hope and pray that not only do we win, obviously, but we need each of them to lose twice and us to win out. Not overly warm and fuzzy but there is a chance! Our schedule is the easiest out of the three and I think if we get through tonight, we can win the next two after that setting up the finale against Boston I know we are all hoping for :sarcasm: Still, Detroit faces St Louis and Pit along with Buffalo and Carolina. They'll win in Buffalo, Carolina could be pesky, and St Louis and Pit should be more of a challenge. Columbus, that's the trickier schedule right there. I'd love to see them go 1-3. That would give us a little tiny sliver of wiggle room. Let's hope the hockey gods feel generous towards us.
