Actually it was a 7-0-1 run on the last playoff spot with a 2-2 overtime tie in Buffalo. I was at that game where Bob Sauve saved a Bob Priestlay breakway in overtime to preserve the point which ultimately got the Devils into the playoffs for the first time. Definitely a memorable 2 week period in Devils history.

true….i just posted the last 5 as there are 5 left this season but ya…great run

Caps are imploding right now. They were in better position to catch Columbus than us, but have gone 0-3-2 in their last 5. We've now got a 1-pt edge.

Could be a squeaker if we win the next couple.

according to sportclubstats, if we win tomorrow we jump to 24% chance and if we lose we drop to 6%

Are you 100% sure ? If so I'm pumped

Yes, 3-2 puts Columbus at 90, 3-1-1 puts them at 91.

If we win out we would have 92. 4-0-1 puts us at 91 and I believe would tie us with Columbus in ROW and the next tiebreaker I think is head to head and I believe Columbus has that. So if we end up tied with Columbus one of their wins in these last 5 HAS to be a SO win because we will not tie break them without ROW.

If Toronto wins out they can also get to 92, but we own the tie breaker on them so it doesn't matter (and the Leafs aren't winning out).

A Detroit loss would be nice tomorrow too. Catching them is still a huge long shot, but still better to have two spots in reach then one (especially since we have the tiebreaker over them).

3-2 puts Columbus at 91 and 3-1-1 at 92, not 90 and 91 as you have it.

You are right.

So we win 5 we get 92, 3-1-1 puts them at 92, but we would have 38 ROW to their 37 and that would be enough.

Ya we need to win out. Even 4-0-1 and 91 points puts us in a much harder spot.

Yes, 4-0-1 for the Devils still means Columbus needs to go 2-2-1 or worse which isn't even close to a given, I don't think 3-2 would do it as we'd have the same amount of ROW and they'd win the second TB. It's easy to say 0-11 is the reason the Devils won't make it, but imagine they end up out by a point...meaning all they needed was to go 1-10 in shootouts, pretty pathetic.

Interesting tidbit. Columbus plays their last game on the 12th, ours is on the 13th (at home against Boston). So we could see a situation where Columbus finishes at 92 and we not only have to win, but get a ROW win too (a shootout win, assuming we won all our other games as ROW only ties us with CBJ).

So we could see a pulled goalie in OT situation (hopefully not...my heart couldn't take it).

Devils would have to WIN OUT for that situation to even develop.

Take it easy.

If they can survive tomorrow then I think they actually have a good chance at running the table. That's obviously a BIG if, because the Canes are playing well and they would definitely love to ruin our **** again.

The only game that would make me sweat, after tomorrow, would be the Calgary game since there actually one of the hotter teams in the league right now. That is the exact kind of game that we usually lose. Of course, we could always poop the bed against the Isles again but you would think they would have learned there lesson about them by now.

Obviously, this all means squat if the injury situations are serious. There not going to be able to survive with Elias and Henrique out, even if Cory goes into Superman mode again.

This is why bringing up Boucher AND Matteau would help(if it happens) because they could bring not only fresh and younger legs, but they could bring some much needed offense, too.

Sorry for veering off like that but still...Those two could end up saving the season if they're called up.

Well win tomorrow then its only 4 games. Granted we haven't won 4 in a row all year, but its still a very doable number. Isles game actually makes me sweat a bit more, and they would love to come and ruin our season.

Of course the Boston game would be the toughest, but by then if that game is relevant we will be riding on a lot of momentum, at home, and the Bruins would have nothing to play for since I don't think they care who they play in the 1st round (why should they?)

Have to survive tomorrow, do that and I think there will be enough momentum to rally around and push them through the final week...maybe.

If Elias and Henrique both are out tomorrow then ya I think Boucher at minimum coming up is not only needed, but could help. Matteau depends on JJ's status, as well as some of the other guys.

Let's be serious here....

EVERY TEAM we face the rest of the way would love to come and ruin our season.
