I'd have to go with #3. We are now 0-1-2 against Buffalo who is by far the worst team in the league.:shakehead

Don't sell us short, 1-1-1 lol. Bernier's OT winner was the only thing that kept us from being 0-1-2.

The game in November against Columbus, in which we choked away that 3-1 lead and ended up getting ZERO points really is looming large right now. Close that game out and were in decent shape. That was another Marty meltdown, figures.

There are literally 10 games like that. See #2 on my list. :)

Be fair. The Leafs are the Mets. You need to be in a playoff spot to collapse.

Don't put that Yotes game in the auto win pile for the Jackets. Yotes are a playoff team clawing for points too.

Wings have a tough schedule too (though they are definitely the best team out of this sorry bunch)

Jackets odds are will still make it but in this backwards war of attrition. They screwed up less then us (and can win in the shootout)

Well purely from a results sense sure, but it's not like the Leafs have been losing to crap teams either...their eight-game losing streak was Washington, Detroit, Tampa, Montreal, us, St. Louis, Philly, Detroit. WE were the worst team they lost to lol

Those Met teams lost up and down the board to crap teams, and this Devil team is doing the same. Maybe the pre-lockout Rangers would be a better comparison than the Mets, how they would be close to a playoff spot then lose to a garbage team like Pittsburgh when they were bankrupt or Atlanta and fall by the wayside.

I really want them to beat and pass the Caps, and the Leafs...if for nothing else so there is almost zero chance our forfeited pick wins the lottery. Get as far away as possible please.

Just think of how pumped the crowd would have been Friday had they just done their job tonight and beaten a team that is constructed to lose.

Agreed.

Now it'll be like business-as-usual. Just another game in the NHL hockey season that means ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING.

(well it does still but I've had it with this team)

Watch, they will win, Jackets will lose one game this weekend, and they will do it to piss you off and tease me for another few days. This team hates us because Pete reads HF.

I don't think I would get excited over that since it would pretty much ensure that Deboer would come back. If they finish 9th and a point or two out then I could see the same cast of clowns coming back next year.

I wont take it seriously if we win the lottery. the NHL would just do it to troll us and not disrupt the draft order

My bad. Still when you look at the 3 things I listed, you're not talking a couple points thrown away. You're literally looking at 15+ points just being generous/doable (not winning every SO, blowing no last second games, going undefeated against bottom feeders). If we win half our shoot-outs, only blow half the games we did and win 2/3 against bottom 5 teams. :shakehead

Well that's one way to think of it too...that's why MAKING the playoffs was vital this year even if our pick was locked. I don't want to give those ****ers the satisfaction of punking us just to let the rest of the league get a pound of flesh.

Oh it is really absurd. They shot themselves in the foot and have only themselves to blame for not making it.

Edit: In all honesty we are closer to Detroit then Columbus because of the tie breaker. We are 4 points behind them, and it will be with even games if they lose to Boston tomorrow (which is very possible). It is just so frustrating because it is RIGHT THERE, but they almost refuse to take the final step, put the winning streak together and take it.

Bah. Let the rest of the league get their pound of flesh.

We're still getting a 1st-rounder back so who gives a ****?

If we beat Washington in regulation on Friday then we have a chance. Washington would have no margin for error for the remainder of the season.

Luckily with Toronto's fall it looks like 91 will *maybe* be the cutoff and not 92, so we can still likely afford an OT/SO loss and make it if we win the other 5. Friday is absolutely a must win, period, and if we lose the season is over.

You just know it'll come down to those last two games at home. We'll have a chance to make the playoffs and will find a way to lose to the god damn Islanders again. And then we'll lose to the Providence Bruins the last game of the season.

Depending on what Columbus and Detroit do it could even go down to 90. About a 50/50 shot 90 does it right now.

I'd rather not depend on that and just get to 92, but well...you have watched this team too.

Right though, Friday is a must win. If they are going to even sniff the playoffs they need to start passing teams, and they can pretty much end the Caps season with a regulation win. Then put the nail in the Cane's season and go from there.
