The Devils and Leafs both checked out of the race tonight imho. I think the Caps are done as well even though they're only two points out. If total points don't kill them off, ROW's most surely will. Then again, you know they'll find a way to beat NJ in regulation.

Columbus and Detroit would seriously have to collapse the rest of the way for either of them to lose their grip on those wildcard spots. Just playing .500 hockey is getting both of those teams in at this point.

I'm with you here. Columbus and Detroit are starting to separate themselves from the playoff pretenders

Feels more no one is actually challenging them. They haven't been lighting the world on fire either. They just need to stay a float because no one behind them seems ready to get hot. Leafs are in complete free fall and us and the Caps can't take advantage of anything.

The 5 points that they're out right now is the closest the Devils are likely to get. Given all that we've seen from this team this season, I think the best we can expect the Devils to do the rest of the way is something like 3-2-2 or 4-3-1. That would require either Detroit or Columbus to basically lose 6 or 7 of their remaining games for the Devils to have a chance. It's just not happening. While it may be only two points, these last two shootout losses basically took NJ out of the race. Only chance they have is some ridiculous 7 - 1 or run the table kind of streak.

I think we cut it back to two or three and fall short there. Maybe make it seem interesting going into and out of the caps game but not enough.

I honestly expect the wings and jackets to go around 500 rest of the way but we will do around the same.

Or have a chance to take it final game and lose it in a shootout. Only fitting.

They're pretty much done now. Put together the last two games shootout losses and you essentially have a 1-1 record. So the Devils have pretty much used up the regulation loss they had to play with.

8-0 is probably going to do it. 7-0-1 very likely too. But even 7-1 puts us at 91 points and that might not be good enough for either WC.

Once of Columbus or Detroit has to cave in a bit. like 3 in a row.

Odds still say 91 should be enough.

Watch, one if not both the wings and caps will lose tomorrow we will beat Florida and the tease will go on and on.

yea now that I re think it a bit. 91 probably gets them in. Plus they'd likely have the ROW tiebreaker at 91

I think TB will beat Detroit, but Nashville is such a tough team to predict

Team is going to tease us until the bitter end. I don't think they will make it but they will tease it for a little longer.

Looks like those number don't mean JACK now....like I said before.

I hate being so right.

This team will go down as one of the most Mediocre teams I've ever seen play.

nomatter what happens tomorrow, a devils win Monday would put us 3 points out of the final wild card (that total can't rise above 82 until Tuesday)

you want an ultimate teas? If everything breaks right the Devils can be just 1 point out of a spot with 6 games to go on Tuesday night. Haha, but nothing will go right

Does it even really matter if they do somehow make the playoffs? Either way, they'd get the Bruins or Penguins and be done a week later.

At least there aren't shootouts in the playoffs, so you're right, the Devils might actually have a chance.

becuase they have loads of heart and fight through lack of talent. Many other teams could have mailed it in after the horrid start to the season.

I didn't see a team with loads of heart last night. Or vs Phoenix. Or when Detroit was kicking our behinds, or Boston.

We are a workman like bunch. Which to me is different then having a ton of heart.

Really can't argue this. I feel bad saying that the team stinks because that's not meant to insult them or anything like that. They're just not very good, but the players they do have give you an honest effort most of the time. Their inability to win really has nothing to do with the team not working hard or anything like that. Unfortunately, they just haven't been able to overcome an old and mediocre roster, questionable personnel decisions and they've been downright horrific in the gimmick.

Things can always be worse, but it just feels like the team has been going through the motions the last year and a half. You look at where they were in June of 2012 to where they're at now and it's really disappointing.

Two seasons one a half but both a disappointment with different players, same coach however.
