We were tied going into the third so it couldn't have been ALL bad, no?
@Bleedred how were the goals? Would Blackwood have been better?
I'm fairly confident people weren't talking about both Jack and Nico being out at the same time were under the umbrella of a "couple of injuries in the top 6". No team can handle that and so far we've done ok, which all we need to do. Stay afloat until they're back.

I know what you are saying but I wouldn't call that 7 min " a gift" after two fairly dirty shots to our guys. Well deserved response to those dirty plays.

Which by the way would be good practice for the playoffs when they won’t be able to just crank up the Globetrotters music and score at will, even with Jack and Nico
I didn’t say it was a gift from the referees (in fact I think it should have been double majors).

Me too. No Sieges stayed in but he took his time getting up from that one.
Also The Hughes hit was worse in full speed. Glad Colton got kicked out. Hopefully Luke will be fine.

Luke came back but another questionable situation.
He got boarded at high speed. And the same guy then cross checked Meier in the face. We got a 7 min PP. Check mainboard thread. I'll link
Ross Colton gets 2 + 5 (7 minute PP) and a game for boarding and cross check
Woah…can’t recall something like that before. Devils score right away on PP and then Colorado gets a shortie. Holy shit this game is crazy…
Videos are only slowmos but at Full speed shows the intensity. Luke missed like 15 mins or more. Probabaly spotter, but he did come back eventually.
Game was wild. Score was close surprisingly but our 5v5 play defense evaporated and we gave up a lot of rushes for half the game

Missed the game but in the replay the first thing I noticed was that we looked sooooo slow in transition. the defensemen were caught flatfooted the whole game.
So Bahl was on the ice for all three ES goals against and the PPG against. A defensive defenseman that can't play defense. When are we going to bench his ass? He sucks.

No, I'm not serious.
Devils 5on5 play has been, fine. Not great, not nearly what it was like last year (roster shakeup, especially on defense not helping). It was also getting better (prior to the Hughes injury) after a particularly rough start to the year.
The RESULTS have been pretty horrific, though. No argument. That will even out some.

I agree this game the mindset was off. 5v5. Particularly in the 3rd. Don't understand the need to trade chances with Colorado. Game was tied. We should have settled down.
Not sure i agree with the missing leadership part though. Team isn't as young as pundits keep saying.

Did you see a replay of the short handed goal yet? Probably the worst play of the season by a Devil by Dougie. He did get the goal back at least.
Bahl was terrible but he did get hurt early in this game. Blocked a shot and had to leave for a bit.
In fairness to Bahl, he took a blocked shot early in the game which I thought broke his ankle. I wonder if lingering effects impacted his game. That said in a situation like that maybe the coaches need to adjust ice time to compensate.
Also, a big thing last night was Colorado shortening the bench. Their 3rd and 4th lines barely played. The result was their top players out against guys like Tierney and Max. They try to make plays they shouldn’t be trying and it ends up in the back of the net in the third.

Just a scary moment.
I didn't, but in game Eddie O was making note of the inordinate amount of odd men we were giving up.
