I’m a Sharks fan who dabbled in your forum regarding Timo and who I hoped to get.
I want to congratulate you on getting Timo. I hated to see him go but this was the team I wanted him to go to so in that respect, I’m happy.
Much will be said about how we were fleeced but I like these kids. Muk was one I wanted and I’m looking forward to watch him grow. Same with Okhotiuk, he’ll help against our rivals. I warmed up to Zetterlund and am glad to have him in teal.
Take good care of Timo. Best of luck in the playoffs.
You were not fleeced. You may not have gotten any of our top top assets, but every piece you got was someone I think is genuinely valuable and had a future in the NHL. Mukh and Okh should both be NHL defenseman, Okhotiuk could be mid-pairing, Mukh could be top-pairing. Zetterlund is a very solid player and can work up or down the lineup and you're going to have him for the prime of his career. And of course the two 1st round picks. No, you didn't get Holtz or Nemec or Mercer, but ... I think the reason you didn't get Holtz was because you picked Mukh instead, frankly, and not getting Nemec or Mercer is not a slight against the players you did get. San Jose got a haul, one which could very easily become 3-5 full-time NHL roster players, potentially some of them quite important. Not a bad way to start a rebuild at all.

Sharks fan coming in peace. I wanted to get some opinions on Zetterlund. Having not watched him much and just looking at stats, he looks like a very promising 2nd/3rd line tweener. He’s a RH shot that SJ desperately needed. I also see he is listed at 220 despite being only 5’11”. Is he a physical player or more of just a big bodied two way forward?

Also I see many fans saying they are bummed to see Shak go. Would you NJ fans have preferred to lose Holtz or Shak. I thought SJ would target Holtz due to his time spent with Eklund and he’s also a RH shot but I think maybe SJ proffered Shak. Also I think NJ has more depth on defense prospects so maybe they preferred to lose Shak over Holtz. Just curious on this boards thoughts.

You guys will love Meier, he’s a pure goal scorer who plays physical and turns up said physicality in the playoffs. The most endearing quality of Meier is his play driving. He can play on a line with lower skilled players and drive the puck possession of that line. He also doesn’t have a lot of injury history compared to a guy like Hertl so he should hold up for you guys over an 8 year extension. Enjoy him and good luck this playoffs. Hoping to see NJ in the ECF

eristic? Now you are teaching me English?
In my childhood of the ruined contry with only 1-4 channels on tv I found books about ancient greece, they were very interesting. Some years after that was more entertaining to read than my classes of "strength of materials" in university. In the end it`s the same gum for the brain as hockey.

I really hope you guys get Bedard to go along with all the assets you got. Hit on all those picks like we hit on Mercer in the Hall trade. I've always liked the Sharks since to Friesen days.

Zetterlund’s upside is Blake Coleman. As of right now he reminds me a ton of him stylistically but isn’t as good yet. He’s also like 2 years younger than Coleman was even when Coleman broke into the league. Zetterlund was a guy I really really really didn’t want to move. He’s f***ing awesome

I’d much rather have lost Muk. Never been the biggest Muk guy and we have more than enough defensive depth. Moving Holtz on top of Zetterlund would’ve really sucked. I’m not too surprised by Holtz not moving. Seemed to me like Grier didn’t like him

I can't wait to use that in a brief.

People who watched Shakir closely, like him, who didn`t - they don`t.

I can't wait to use that in a brief.
should be good epigraph.

Re: physicality, since no one's answered this part - Zetterlund doesn't really throw hits, so that might make you think he's not physical, but so far this year several players have tried to hit him and just bounced off. Only the strongest players in the league can move him; everyone else is figuring out the hard way that this guy is a truck.

It's a bit of a two-way street for me, I think Holtz is probably more valuable than Mukhamadullin but it's very close, and while I really like him and am sad to see him go, he was just always going to have an uphill battle to get ice time here with two guys drafted higher than him likely to get more opportunities. I just liked the fact that the Devils stuck their neck out and took a KHL D in the first round; he was developing quite nicely. Hopefully he gets in some games for the Sharks or Barracuda at the end of the season; I know Grier mentioned that he would today.

Judging by the return pieces you got I can tell you one thing, Grier did his homework.
He got the maximum possible given the situation, with no extension for Meier secured.
It's unusually rare for star players heading to free agency to return potential star players back but you got plenty of assets.
Win-win trade I would say for both sides.
Zetterlund is a player I hate losing. I was hoping for Sharangovich to be traded instead since that kid is another streaker of the likes of Zacha. Grier did very well.

45-50 might be possible, but 60 seems like a stretch, if not a massive exaggeration. Historically we are not a franchise that has super high scoring forwards like that. There's a reason we're hoping Jack breaks 50 G and 100 P, it's because only a guy at that level could do that here.
We are also a franchise known for elite goaltending and trapping

You were not fleeced. Ignore these people.

I would have rather lost Holtz+Sharangovich over Muk+Zetterlund. We'll also never know why the extension talk wasn't allowed, but for all we know he's going to Fiala his way to Vegas next year and would have decimated the return.

We're sending you guys some lottery ball luck.

If this was the case, it would give more incentive for Vegas to up their offer since they know he's their first choice. As long as Meier is willing to sign, this shouldn't be an issue.

He's been taking the "people have said Meier would like to go to Vegas" comment way too much to heart.

We’ll have to see what the numbers look like at that point for stars. Dougie would have one year left at that point. Move him or get Quinn to take a cheaper one year deal and then sign longer when Dougie’s up

Dougie isn't the only issue though. Luke and Nemec are going to have large contracts as well (unless they bust). I just don't see room to have so many high contracts on the D. if the cap goes up though then I guess that's a different story.

There's obviously a reason Grier didn't want to allow teams to talk to him. I'm sure it wasn't just that he wanted a smaller return.

The most likely reason is that Meier said or Grier guessed that he preferred to sign here. If Grier let us talk to Lemieux and he confirmed that, suddenly Fitz has more leverage in the trade negotiations. Obviously Grier wouldn't want that, so he said no talking to Lemieux.

In the end, that information may have gotten to Fitz through the grapevine anyway, and that's why he was suddenly willing to pull the trigger on this deal without the extension. Because he knows the player wants to sign here.

We’re talking half a decade down the line at this point so we really have no clue
