This past week: We should draft our way out of this and moving picks for quick results isn’t the route we should be taking. The last thing we should do is trade for a guy like Mueller... man, Shero’ really screwed us out of more picks!

Today: Love this pickup. He’s been playing behind solid veterans and he’ll slide in our lineup just fine.

Man, I love this place!
We have 8 picks including 2 1sts in this upcoming draft and that’s before trading Kulikov or Murray. We selected in the 1st round 3 times last year. I’m not seeing your point.

Nobody told me there'd be days like these...

Sounds more like a Ben Lovejoy replacement more than a Kulikov replacement since Kulikov can handle a puck and has some skill offensively. Hope Jonas’ puck handling isn’t as bad as I think it is.

No one can replace Lovejoy. Bite your tongue.

If you can't understand the difference between using multiple picks (including 2nd rounders) for two seasons of a 27-year old Gusev or absorbing the massive contract on an already declining Subban versus a spending a mid-round 3rd rounder for a 23 year old defenseman (hardly a quick fix), then I'm not sure what to tell you.

See this is where you screwed up, assuming he "can't understand" as apposed to just choosing not to for the sole reason of putting himself on the outside laughing at one collective group of people who change their tunes constantly. When you just want to shit on people but can't find a good reason, making one up never fails.

This move seems like a well calculated risk but I’m a bit surprised they haven’t addressed the right side of the defense in terms of young players or prospects. If we see it they have to as well.

So the net of the Taylor Hall deal

Dawson Mercer + Bahl + Siegenthaler

I like it - I think both Bahl and Siege would have gone higher on redrafts given their development since the draft.

This list is incomplete. The true haul is the following:

Jonas Siegenthaler
Kevin Bahl
Nick Merkley
Nate Schnarr
Dawson Mercer

so he has to quarantine for a week yes? So he can probably play in about 8 or 9 days?

Good question - hopefully not, as Zajac and Palmieri didn't need to...but who the hell knows with this stuff.

Would seem to be a similar situation where he's also getting tested daily and can just hop in a car and drive up to NJ.

You love it so much you keep coming back with different names, but the differences are obvious -

A: Mueller was traded with a 5th for a 2nd and a 3rd. If Mueller was traded for just a 3rd, the deal would've been fine.

B: Mueller was an AHLer when the Devils dealt for him, Siegenthaler is in the NHL albeit not in the lineup - but he played the entire season last year. Mueller had only played 15 NHL games in the 2 years before he was traded.
Mueller was also "better" offensively and worse defensively. The two aren't even comparable.

So I imagine our 3 protection slots are basically set at this point: Severson, Subban, Siegenthaler. I suppose if they have a good opportunity to add another defender they still can. Losing a 3rd round pick to the expansion draft isn't the worst thing in the world.
