We will be in that situation next year with Palmieri. I can see Palmieri putting up 20G, 25-30A given the opportunity.
I agree that it's a great trade. My only fear is how much we fork out for him next year after he breaks out. How much you think he would get? My guess is 4 yrs/4 mil.

He's RFA, not UFA...unless he has a BIG year I don't know how much his salary's going up.

This is a good trade, even if it doesn't help us much in the standings.
Complaining about this is pretty ridiculous IMO.
Those 2nd rounders that we picked are probably not gonna be of much help in the next 2-3 years, and they may not even ever be as good as Palmieri.
I'm going to enjoy it a lot more than watching Ruutu and Zubrus get a combined 16 points this season.
Beleskey on the other hand.
If it's a fair deal for Beleskey, I won't be too mad. Like for what Clowe's cap hit is, I guess isn't too bad.

Yeah exactly. We just have to qualify him unless he really produces, then they will see if he fits into their long term plans.
He will be rfa with a year out until ufa status. Any deal next year will have to buy ufa years.
Of course if he isn't a fit, you just deal him away next year.

I like this move. We get a 24 y/o kid who is still developing. I think he can be a real good player for us.
He is from NJ so that good adds a marketing factor to it.
If we got Beleskey rights also it tells me that Shero is going to attack all the decent young forwards on the board.
However having said that, yes im very worried about signing Beleskey and how bad he could be.

Possible hold-up on trade becoming official is Palmieri is not in N. America and Ducks having trouble reaching him to tell him of trade.

Well a couple things i didnt realize about Palmieri.
Damn this kids fast.
Hes a Right shot.
That checks off 2 boxes we needed.
Also since i didnt watch him much out west he scores from all over, breakouts, shooting from outside, also up close doesnt mind going into the front of the net with the puck.

All we need is a legitimate top line RWer and I think we're set.
If the Beleskey thing goes through (and assuming we sign him to a contract that isn't utter garbage)

Same.. He's out playing golf in Ireland with some teammates. 5 hours time difference, I'd assume by 10am their time it'll be confirmed, so 5am here.
