I remember Palmieri playing pretty spectacular in the Detroit-Anaheim series in 2013. Thought that was his coming out party, but hopefully it happens with us. Opportunity is there.

What I don't get in this deal from Anaheim's standpoint is that Murray says that he traded Palmieri because he was afraid that he would get 20 goals this upcoming season and so he would have to pay him over the summer of 2016, but then he acquires Hagelin from the Rangers who is due a big pay increase as a RFA this summer.

Has Palmieri talked since been traded here or is he still on vacation and won't be disturbed?

Last night, I tried to find some quotes from him on the trade to the Devils because I was interested in hearing how he felt, but I couldn't pull up anything on a Google search. I assume that means he's still on vacation and the media doesn't want to bother him. :dunno:

I don't believe that for a second.

If the media knew exactly where he was, all of them would've gotten plane tickets to ireland, tracked him down, and badgered him 24/7 like the paparazzi.

Weeell, not exactly. If he was traded to Montreal, Chicago or Toronto, I could see one of the papers forking over a plane tickets and other expenses, but not the floundering Star Ledger, they'll patiently wait till he's a distance of a cheap cab ride. :)

Palmieri doesn't play with Getzlaf/Perry. I think ANA hope is that Hagelin can play well in the top 2 lines. Palmieri was a 3rd/4th line guy fro them.

ANA is odd because they have 3 NHL goalies on their roster. Lindhom and Vatanen aren't going to be cheap RFA next season.

And if Murray thought Palmieri was going to have a big bump in production, wouldn't he want to benefit from it for a while, and then sell in February when his value is higher? Kind of a weird reason to trade someone over the summer.

If Palmieri repeats previous performances and scores 15-15, it's a good deal. If he goes up to 20-20 it's a great deal. He's certainly not going to be buried behind anyone at RW.

Ducks have a lot of depth and a lot of RFAs coming up. Odds are they would get less value since he wouldn't get the proper playing time.

Also I think they wanted some assets in this draft too.

ducks traded the pick they got from this deal for Hagelin. They also have an expensive summer next year with Lindholm and Vatanen. Makes sense for them.

Makes sense for both. They got assets to get a player they wanted and help with what will be a future expensive summer.

We got what we wanted. Young cost controlled RW with speed and skill.

People hate on Cordell but the graphs he puts together are very interesting, looks like all Palmieri needs is more ice time

@ToddCordell: I take an in-depth look at the Kyle Palmieri trade and what the young winger can bring to the Devils http://t.co/vfUsvP8T1G

No. Kinda curious why none of the Devils beat writers haven't talk to him yet, I mean its not like he's in the middle of the Amazon, he's in freakin' Ireland.

I mean, if that's his vacation I wouldn't blame the beat writers really. No rush to get a reaction, let the man enjoy his vacation. Besides, if they talk to him in mid-July it'll give us something to talk about in the long off-season

He does good work. Too many haters.

He covers two other teams and cites every beat writer and rehashes their thoughts. Kind of boring if you ask me, why read TG's thoughts when you can get a kids in a basement view of it? There are vastly superior blogs by actual Devils fans who do a way better job than he ever will.
