Things are looking up . In my opinion , moving Johnson and adding one or two guys like Neiderrieder or ?? would be deadly . Maybe Fitz is looking for a top 6 winger .
I am getting a little nervous about Bratt and hope we don’t have to move him if he refuses a contract that doesn’t walk him to UFA ?

If we can swap Johnsson for Neiderreiter on a short term deal, that would definitely be an upgrade.

In the end, Bratt has to make a choice : Does he want to be a Devils life'r or does he want to be yet another typical NHL'er who bolts for the highest dollar amount?

No reason to be nervous with Bratt. We have 13 million to work with to sign these guys with Bratt

Interesting deal for both sides (EDIT: Sorry, thought this was the main board)

I think Smith could do well there but he’s really redundant with Luke & Nemec longterm and even relatively short term (I don’t typically ever pencil in prospects but I make exceptions there) plus Casey is tiny and fantastic.

I don’t think his value needed to get “pumped up” after a bad year, the ELC gave him value.

And the Penguins didn’t do too bad here Marino didn’t have a great year either, nice pick in what looks like a great draft, replaces the one they gave up for Jeff Carter.

And Severson is likely a goner now, though not sure when it happens. The TDL maybe.

Seems fitz is genuinely sick of losing and is done with the one last chance thing
Yes I’m glad Fitz is at the point where we can’t fill the lineup with kids and “ hope” they work out . It’s hard rotating everyone in to give them a chance and try to stay competitive at the same time . I really want to see what Holtz Foote Thompson can do but at the same time , we have to be competitive and can’t play too many at the same time where they have a negative impact on us winning . It will be tricky finding the right spots and icetime for players we want to take a look at and see if they are good fits .
I guess that’s what training camp and preseason is for and rotate guys in for a game or two if they impress in Utica

He isn't needed. We could just resign Severson and be very content with our defense once Luke Hughes comes. Now we need to hope we can acquire some fwd talent for Severson and don't let him walk for free.
Don’t think anyone wants to pay upwards of 6-7 for Damon severson but someone will and it won’t be nj

I have to think that with the acquisition of Marino, I don't think we see Nemec this season.
I think we still will at some point at least for a short stint. In the case of injuries he’s probably one of the first callups.

On the not here’s how I’d imagine our Utica D group looks until injuries:

Bahl/Okhotiuk-Nemec
Wotherspoon-Walsh
Vukojevic-Russo
Groleau

Please stop with the Niederreiter talk. This guy is a MIDDLE SIX FORWARD. I would rather Mercer, Bratt, Shara, Palat on top 6 and we're actually still tryna get rid of other bottom 6 forwards. We gonna be paying him UFA premium for the next 5-6 years. I'm shocked how we can complain about a Palat contract then mention Niederreiter everyday. It's not happening.
