The #9 pick was going to be a risk regardless

Schneider is a proven NHL goalie and young. He is a stud

I'm told #Isles did in fact make an offer for Cory Schneider and that it was better than New Jersey's.

LOL! **** YOU FISHSTICKS! Have fun with whoever is gonna be your starter this year. Grampy Nabby again, or maybe leaning tower of padsa Nilsson. Looks like the fishies won't be getting Luongo now either. This signals that he's staying in Vancouver.

How can some of you guys hate this trade? There are plenty of forwards in the sea and not to many great goalies like Schneider.

That remains to be seen.

Now it's all a crap-shoot. And the problem is that there's a possibility of most of it being "crap" than anything else.

I'm hoping I'm wrong but really.....We just don't know now who can help the Devils offense NOW. Not down the road.....but *NOW*.

The probability that a first round pick will be an impact player falls drastically after the top 3-5 picks.

Schneider is a proven impact player.

Love the deal.

Over the last few years I've considered Cory Schneider and Berneir to be the top 2 goalies in the league that didnt currently have starting jobs. I guess we will see now.

Hurts seeing the Russian still available at 9 but this trade is so much deeper then selecting a new prospect. You build out from the goal to win championships and now we could have our goalie for the next decade. A goalie who is ready now btw.

Makes me wonder if Marty told Lou that this would be his last year.

Hedberg''s goaltending last year was a huge reason we missed the playoffs, just make the guy sign an extension and I'll be happy.

Everyone....

The only GOOD THING about this trade is that it ENSURES that when the Devils give up their Draft pick next year, it *won't* be a high one.

I'm not sure how to feel about this even 10 minutes after the pick was made and thinking about it.

There is no way to feel about this move, but positive.

The odds of drafting a player that winds up being as good as CS with the #9 pick is almost zero percent.

The only potential downside is if he refuses to sign in New Jersey. Lou should work on a 3-year extension immediately to lock him up for a solid 5 years.

I don't understand....

why buy moose out? 1.4 million for 1 year....its so not worth it. I know he has a NMC does that mean he can't be waived? Even though its a 35+ contract

Moose was straight TRASH this past season. If Brodeur goes down again, which he has every year the past few it seems, we're more likely to win games with Schneider in there. More assured, it should be. We're sitting pretty when Marty retires as well.

Who else are we going to use a buyout on? We have 2 and the only other logical names are Volchenkov and Salvador, and neither of them are likely to be bought out.

We basically sewed our goaltender position for the foreseeable future up.

So good that he was given the starting spot in Vancouver last year and lost it because Luongo outplayed him.

Ask Canucks fans for verification if you want.

What are you talking about?

I was happy because I thought jersey fan were informed and respected him, schneider won the crease, he was our mvp, his numbers were better then lou's.

He had one meltdown at the beginning of the season being told he is the starter but lou will be competing with him for the starter job, a job schneider eventually won and became our team mvp.

He was outstanding until he had one of the only injuries he suffered in his career right before playoffs after a stellar game vs the hawks, just look at his numbers....

We didn't actually secure the goaltending position when the player that was brought in can potentially leave in 2 seasons.

I was mad at first but now we only have one problem to focus on going forward and that's scoring so I'm getting over it quickly.

We shouldn't have to worry about defense or goaltending for a while.

BG, you know what?

I'm thinking that Lou wouldn't have made that deal if there wasn't any discussion regarding that...Maybe he IS prepared to give him that extra 3-years to make it a 5-year-deal? I'm hoping.... :)

Schnieder was so good, that he got played injured over Luongo in the playoffs.

Easily the Canucks best player and MVP last year. Congrats Devils, you just got Gillis fired.

I don t know what to say. Lou stole a number 1 goalie for a 9th pick. This spells the end for the moose. man I wasn t expecting this today. I might have a hard time sleeping tonight. They need solid forward in the second round.

And if you asked canucks fans for verification that schneider somehow lost his job to lou which is not true at all, you asked robertos fan base who despised him for running roberto out of town. You wont hear the majority tell you this, most of us are not happy.

I will never ever forget the reaction of devils fans around me as bettman announced the trade. Straight chaos. Hugging and screaming.

I wanted Nichushkin badly, but Schneider is incredible.
