Lou making that trade also ensures that no NJ Devil will *ever* wear a #13 jersey. #2013draft

I'm so stoked right now, Schneider is an elite franchise goalie, still young and we gave up a #9 overall pick for him? A pick that could quite easily bust for a proven commodity that'll solve our goaltending conundrum for years to come, count me in.

We had two 40 year olds in net and a bunch of relatively unknown prospects that were far from NHL ready, all of the offense in the world won't help us if our goaltending falls apart again or they get hurt. We needed stability at the position, we have it for years to come; the free agent options were nowhere near as appealing as Schneider. We can acquire some FA forwards if need be, this is a great deal

Wow, didn't see this coming but I like the trade. For those that have not seen Schneider play, he truly is a number 1 goalie, and glad to see that the Devils were thinking about the future and the goaltending situation. Great Job Lou!!

I don't understand....

why buy moose out? 1.4 million for 1 year....its so not worth it. I know he has a NMC does that mean he can't be waived? Even though its a 35+ contract

I feel terrible for Hedberg.

I do too. Last year though gave us a taste that another year of the AARP goaltending tandem was not gonna work. We still need some scoring power, but Schneider helps this team a lot. I saw almost every game last year with him with the Canucks. A few more games for him last year, and he might be in the top 3 for the Vezina.

Lamoriello just gave the world a teachable moment in why it's unnecessary to draft goalies with high picks.

I'm not sure how to feel about this even 10 minutes after the pick was made and thinking about it.

I mean....on the one hand we do get a successor to Marty who can step in after he's finished his career next season.

But on the other hand(at least thus far) we had a shot at getting somewhat-of-an-impact player in Nich that could help the Devils PAINFUL-TO-WATCH Offense.

How can some of you guys hate this trade? There are plenty of forwards in the sea and not to many great goalies like Schneider.

Was shocked at first and thought WTF?!?!?! Now I'm really liking it. A proven quality goaltender for an unproven prospect. There was a lot of question marks with the players left on the board including Nischushkin so I'm pretty happy we're getting a potential franchise goalie in this trade.

This was robbery on Lou's part. It's a relative sure thing replacement for our 40+ goaltenders. It gives more time for Wedge and Kinkaid to develop even further. We dont have to worry about a kid being rushed into the role or shopping for someone else's trash.

We need more offense, so hopefully we find some in round 2. There are going to be good players available at 39.

Not a fan at all.

So whats gonna happen when Schneider is a UFA in 2 years lol. Terrible, but on par with recent Lou moves.

But whoever we take is unproven. Schneider has proven to be a very good goalie in the NHL

So good that he was given the starting spot in Vancouver last year and lost it because Luongo outplayed him.

Ask Canucks fans for verification if you want.

The #9 pick was going to be a risk regardless

Schneider is a proven NHL goalie and young. He is a stud

I'm told #Isles did in fact make an offer for Cory Schneider and that it was better than New Jersey's.

Looks like VBK has some pocket money to shell out $4 mil for Cory and another $4 mil for Brodeur. Who's going to be the #1 guy though?

Canucks fans are saying we really stole this one. After thinking about it, I have to agree also. I wasn't happy upon first hearing it, as evidenced by my posts. Look at it this way though. I think Colorado paid the same as this to Washington for an even more relatively unproven Varlamov. Schneider is more proven than Varlamov was at that time.

He wasn't good in the playoffs for two games this year, but he was just coming off an injury that took him out for a week or so, and probably shouldn't have started those games in the first place.

Ugh, I hate this deal. This is the same goalie who lost to Belarus at the WJC.
