You guys will love Schneider. He's one of the best goalies in the league. I'm sad to see him go and wish we got more for him.

Don't underestimate how this effects UFAs coming here. Marty is a legend, but players want to know that the team wil be competing for a cup and that was not a certainty with Marty and Moose. Now, players know NJD means business and is in it to win it.

good call!

because goaltending is the problem for the devils... its not the giveaways and odd man rushes they give away all the time...

I could see Lou trading Moose to the Islanders since they're in the area. With Nabokov unlikely to return, they can probably use a veteran goalie. He'd be a valuable backup for a young team.

Yupp. The 40 and 41 year old tandem was the least of the Devils' worries going forward, surprised Lou didn't lock up both of them long term instead of getting Schneider.

At first, I was pissed at this trade. I had my sights set on Nichuskhin and thought for sure a line of him, Kovalchuk, and Loktionov was bound to happen. I'm still kind of mad about it, but from a general standpoint this was a steal by Lou. Now, if Lou can re-sign Schneider long term and then sign/trade for a few good forwards then I'll be very, very happy.

Schneider is literally quite possibly the second best goaltender in the division now behind Lundqvist. He's better than what Philly has so far. That piece of steaming crap Mason? ROFLMAO! Dead flower in pitt? Whatever the Fish Sticks are putting in?

He's clearly better than Bobrovsky right now, he's right now better than Holtby, and IMO he's as good or better than Ward.

Not 100% on this trade but Schneider has been excellent the past few years especially considering his numbers have been marginally better than Luongo who has been a top 5 goaltender since the lockout. If he can keep us below 2 gaa next year, then we're set even with our weak offense.

Schneider has been better than excellent for us recently. His save percentage was .009% better than Luongo's over the last three years, and .016% better over the last two years, while Luongo has still been a very good goalie.

I think Schneider also has the league's best save percentage over the last two and three years.
