If ever he's pissed that we didn't take his brother, I'd tell him to concentrate on being the hyped up superstar player he was labeled to be, work his ass off during the offseason and let the GM do his f***ing job.

All of that in a more civile matter, but I'm sure you get the picture lol
I must be speaking Spanish. Jacks opinion on this doesnt matter.

Its the fact that youre skipping over his brother for a ever so slightly better or worse prospect, when if you do that it shows you gave absolutely no f***s that Luke is his brother

so Yes, if were top-4 and let Luke go by us, Jack will most certainly hold disdain for Fitzgerald not believing in his brother.

its called human nature, I know thats a shock for some that these arent AI on NHL 21

Have people discussed all the RFA deals Fitz needs to hand out before the Expansion Draft?

Going by the Cap Friendly Seattle Expansion Draft tool these following RFAs need to under contract to fit the requirements that allow the Devils to make them one of the two forwards exposed or one of the seven forwards protected: Kuokkanen, Sharagovich, McLeod and Bastian (plus Merkley if he plays 9 more of the remaining NHL games). (Unless I don’t understand the rules, which is a real possibility, but I believe that’s what Corey in the Athletic said we would have to do.)

So if Johnsson is exposed we need to sign one of these guys to expose them. And obviously Fitz needs to sign Kuokkanen, Sharagovich and the other forward (McLeod?) they would give the three forward slots to. (Nico, Bratt, Zacha and Wood being the obvious four.)

Seattle can also claim Murray, they can claim UFAs and then they have a 48 hour window to negotiate a deal with that player.

I understand what you're saying but you seem dead set on the fact that Luke Hughes should be going in the top #3 or #4 and our scouting team probably doesn't think that at all. If we end up picking someone else, it should have no effect at all on how Jack thinks we're running this franchise.

I mean seriously, we're not picking teams for a 4th grade dodgeball game. Jack might be bummed about not having a shot at playing with his little bro, I'll give you that, but who's to say that Luke actually wants to play in the shadow of his older brother? He might want to have a chance to be "the guy" for his own team, who knows.

If the Devils dont have the best skater in the draft in their top-5, then maybe theyre Pejorative Slurs

This isn't a skating competition because if that was the case, Mark Stone wouldn't be in the league yet he's one of the best, if not the best, 2 way wingers in the game.

Luke Hughes is a fine looking prospect but he's not a slam dunk to be taken 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th. When you'll deal with the fact that there's better options at our disposal, everything will be just fine.

I personally think we should draft BPA and not have a bias towards going with Hughes. That would be a huge mistake IMO.

Related note - really hope we can finish in a bottom 3 position given that Seattle is in the fourth.

Luke Hughes is going top-5

if you think otherwise youre just a hipster who loves hyping new prospects right before the draft

i bet you thought Kakko was close to Jack too, huh?

Seattle is 3rd so unless we finish second last Seattle is above us.

I’m rooting for the rangers to catch the islanders and make them miss the playoffs. The Islanders have lost some games lately and the rangers are winning(largely because of us) its very unlikely but the rangers are 8 points back and they play each other 5 times which could make a big difference.

Well that's according to you and I'll take the advice of pro scouts over yours now and tomorrow. Are you Luke and Jack's mom by any chance?

It's always every mom's dream to have their kids play together, that's why I'm asking.

You must have forgot the New Jersey Devils best d pair ever had two of the same handedness

you know what? i totally forgot about our defense pairings from 20 years ago. you're right, we should draft hughes. ideally we could get all of them and devote 30% of our future cap towards those 3 guys.

I want to make it known as well, anyone still looking to move or get rid of PK is out to lunch or showing their hand on their true feelings.

There is no logical reason for us to move him, none moreso than the fact he essentially makes up 50% of our salary cap currently and there is a floor we have to reach.

He’s been damn good for us lately. I don’t get the negativity and I never will.

That's it, I'm starting to hate the fact that we might draft Luke Hugues... sigh
I wouldn’t hate it, he’s a really good prospect and has a great skillset with his combination of skating and size. I just like Power and Clarke more. Also a few wingers and Beniers worth considering but d is definitely our biggest need. The only thing I would hate is if they draft him over other guys they think are better just because he’s Jack’s brother. Obviously they’d never tell us if that was the case.

Exactly.

We need proven players on our roster and trying to flip everyone for prospects that might contribute in 5 years is a dumb way of looking at things, when analyzing our current roster.

I mean for the love of god, I think we have an overall age that is lower then certain teams in the NCAA.

Lmfao find me reputable rankings that have Luke below 5

I saw Bob the hack McKenzie put him 10th, same guy who said 'half the league has Kakko better than Jack'

Yeah, I was just joking because a certain poster wants to reunite the family instead of taking the BPA, which might be Hughes for all we know but being related shouldn't be the reason why we take him.

Bob McKenzie’s rankings are directly from NHL scouts. He literally surveys actual NHL scouts to make his rankings. So, to discredit his rankings is to discredit nhl scouts.

Who is to say whether Kakko or Hughes will have the better career?

Unlike Hughes, Kakko is on a deeper team and has had an opportunity to develop his complete game.

Due to the lack of depth, Hughes has been pushed into a bigger role than his size and game probably merit at this point. Offensively, he has been up to the task but his overall game is still a work in progress.
