maybe a dumb question, but after watching trotz the other night, why don't we use a modern trap? and please no bullshit answers about how we don't have the right players for it lol. the beauty of clogging up the neutral zone and being opportunistic is that you're not relying on individual talent. it would certainly make things a lot easier on our goalies.

to RG's point yesterday, it would certainly be a lot simpler than what we're doing now.

That was mostly the media and both trades fall into the bargain bin. I hate the weird, “bandaid mentality” our organization has. Reclaimation projects or unknowns, and they aren’t very good at analyzing ether type. Yes there are risks, but the Devils are also risking a longer layoff, using the current model.
Posters here were very excited about that off season.

Also those are the kinds of players that are typically available. Teams rarely trade high end players in their prime and when players like Tavares and Panarin make it to UFA they have multiple teams pursuing them, Even if you do get those high end UFAs note that the Rangers would have missed the playoffs both years Panarin has been there and I think the Leafs could have made the playoffs and lost in the first round without Tavares. Point being even landing a player like that means the team may not immediately get better. You have to try and time it like STL with players like ROR/Shenn where your core (AP, VT, JS, etc) are in prime producing years.

so wait, you don't think Palmieri and Wood is worth a 1st? lmao

I find it “lmao” worthy that you called someone out on a “bad” trade proposal and then present one that’s worse.

You are very much so undervaluing the value of Palms and Wood combined at the deadline, all the while trying to trade them to a team that wouldn’t be able to even fit them at 1/2 retained.

yeah I’m on team try anything at this point. We’re certainly not getting anything off the forecheck so it’s hard to see a downside.

Ruff has never been a guy to have a top defensive team. Keeping the puck out of the net is obviously an issue but this team CANNOT for the life of it score goals and that's surprising.

Why do people think we're an offensive team? Because we have Jack Hughes back to his roaring 30 point pace over his last 20 games? Our only proven producer topped out at a career high of 57 points.

One look at this roster and our lack of scoring would surprise no one outside of this board.

How is it surprising? Not a single player on this team is a proven offensive dynamo.

I'm down. But trap teams need to have solid special teams and a high finish rate. Neither of which bodes well for us.

He lost his leg.

I know - You're thinking "Didn't he just recover from a lost leg?" - and you would be correct.
The good news is he didn't lose his other leg. He just lost the prosthetic from the original leg.
The bad news is they need to properly size the replacement so it takes some time.

In last year's draft alone, Blake Coleman, Brady Skjei, Ondrej Kase, J-G Pageau and Barclay Goodrow all brought back first-round picks in trades.

To a team thinking one piece could put them over the top - particularly if that team will be drafting later in the first round, both Miles and Kyle would likely be worth a shot.
