Seems I’m a part of a dwindling camp over here but I still want Palms to stay.

Call me crazy but I have faith in this season being more of an outlier than anything.

I'm in the same camp, but I'm also wary of extending him beyond 2-3 years. I think this season is more of an outlier (he's shooting barely over 7% when he's shot over 12% the previous 6 seasons), but he's also 30 so even if he rebounds to a more normal level of production, how long is that going to last?

Ruffs d zone systems are strange. Never heard of one where both defenseman are free to go into the corner and the center is responsible for the front of the net. Usually it’s defenseman goes into corner center is there for support and other defenseman stays in front of the net.

I don’t like the Diamond penalty kill. Wish we would just play the box and stop fronting the opposing player screening in the crease. Get behind him and push him away make it tougher to screen the goalie
I could not agree more.

If Lee is hurt for awhile then they could (ie, when Patrick Kane was on LTIR that opened up space for Chicago to trade for Antoine Vermette). But if he's due back before the end of the regular season, then it'll be tougher.

I'd rather it did so he can feel at least remotely the same pain we Devils fans see when he flubs shots, misses shots, and makes bonehead plays.

C'mon, if you feel pain when Palms makes these mistakes then your oxycotin isn't working. The entire team is making these same mistakes nightly. How much pain are you in? How many pills are you taking, what is the strength and at what frequency are you taking them? Can you sleep?

Devils practiced on the ice Friday before the second game with the Islanders. How much help will it be? Is every player of the team still suffering from COVID?

I hate the notion of “not adding” until Nico/Jack are ready. Cool, but my issue is that certain players only become available (trade/FA) once. The Devils would be better with Dougie Hamilton (now/future), but if you don’t sign him this summer he won’t be around when the children grow up. Timing will never be perfect and the current model for rebuilding the Devils feels like a hamster wheel. I wonder who will be on this team at the start of next season.

Do not forget the Devils "won the off season" prior to the 19-20 season. Those adds (Subban, Gusev, Simmonds) really made for some exciting hockey.

Regardless of preference, I will say that I'm confident Palmieri is dealt at the deadline. I believe Boston will be the front-runner, and their first round pick (straight up) should be enough to get the deal done. I can also envision the Devils having some interest in Bruins top prospect John Beecher, who was a buddy of Jack Hughes' on the US-NTDP and can give a ton of speed and power at center or LW. I could also see both Florida teams vying for Palmieri, but I have my doubts about the Islanders.

That was mostly the media and both trades fall into the bargain bin. I hate the weird, “bandaid mentality” our organization has. Reclaimation projects or unknowns, and they aren’t very good at analyzing ether type. Yes there are risks, but the Devils are also risking a longer layoff, using the current model.
