Igor has been getting rocked all series while we haven’t gotten close enough to Schmid to smell his farts. Soft effort and it starts with the top 6, who are routinely nowhere to be found while the defenseman float wrist shots from the point. At least the Kids have been able to tip some pucks and get chances.

Kane even gave them the blueprint on the Trocheck goal when he just flicked a puck into a couple bodies and we scored off the chaos. Unacceptable honestly.

You kind of are, though.

You're not disagreeing with my point, you're saying my point isn't important to you because it's not the players you want to criticize.
Not at all and I'm not going through this manipulation of my words again that you did last year in the playoffs. Im openly questioning the prioritization of issues with this team within your comments. You're welcome to post whatever and I'm welcome to comment as well. Cheers!

The rest of this series dictates this core's legacy. Everything went right in Games 1 and 2 and they did absolutely everything wrong in 3 and 4. It's level now. It's a series and you're not in trouble until you lose at home and lose away.

I still think they pull this out. The Devils won the battle of attrition twice in a row, not because they outplayed the Rangers. If this is the best they've got, the Rangers are going to round 2. Take it to the bank.
Yup

Some of these takes are just woah. I read a few days ago somewhere on HF that if the Devils tied the series Ranger fans were going to lose their shit and some of you guys have. Get a grip. The series is tied and they just lost two 1 goal games(not counting EN). If they lose this series changes will be made but lets see what happens.

And that’s exactly why people are being negative. Even if we somehow pull this series out, it’s the still same and dance.

This team is a bunch of underachievers who can’t get out of their own ways. They’re not winning a Cup unless they somehow turn a major corner, which is very obviously not happening.
Agreed but with 90% of the roster no showing tonight they were still tied in the third. Those are the facts. People calling for half the team being traded and the other half should resign from hockey is just pure emotions. It’s ok but as always on here it’s just pure emotional nonsense.

I hate to say it, but this is far from the best the Devils have. Their stars, outside of Hughes, have been relatively poor.

The problem is we haven’t taken advantage of their depth not showing up.
Meier is a complete jagoff deadline acquisition for them. When he's not falling on prone goalies, he's in the penalty box. Hischier has the same number of goals Zib has.

I'd like to think Hughes would be Erik Christensen part two here as well. It's just how we develop offensive talent here. In other words, we don't. I don't recall that last legit offensive talent we developed that turned into a PPG player.

JT Miller: 364 points in 377 games since leaving NY. Kovalev had 354 pts in 365 games in PIT after leaving NY. Buchnevich has 143 pts in 136 games since leaving NY. Savard was a PPG guy for BOS later in his career. Weight had 577 pts in 588 games in EDM after leaving NY.

To answer your question: Amonte his first 2 yrs? T. Sandstrom had 380 pts in 407 games in NY. Kreider has developed nicely, but not a PPG guy obviously.

The core issue is they try to develop forwards here the way most teams (including nyr) develop defenseman with incredibly sheltered roles to play safe hockey, but you can't take kids that have been offensively focused for the past decade of their lives and say "forget what got you here and just be a new aged jed ortmeyer for a few years." It's insane how they neuter forwards here. And completely agree about laffy pre draft. If stutz is here he is probably not given the same offensive opportunities but the difference in skill between he and laffy is almost comical.
Right. You need to nurture the gifts the young players have early on and let them play to their strengths. Not tell them to play cave man hockey in the league at 18. They're going to be overmatched trying to do that, even in a sheltered role. Totally destroyed Kakko's confidence for sure, instead of telling him to go out there, bully opposing defensemen on the forecheck, take chances with the puck on your stick even if it means turning it over, and learning from the mistakes instead of what happened.

You teach defense at D+4 through D+7 years, not at D+1 through D+3 years and have them do dick with the puck on their stick because they didn't get to acclimate their offensive skills to the league early on.

Some of it, sure. But I don’t think calling for someone like Panarin to be moved as nonsense (assuming they lose the series).

Many have given very rational arguments all season long that if he replicates last playoffs, or worse, that it probably makes sense to move him. He deserves those arguments popping up right now. He’s been atrocious.

I truly just want to walk away one day knowing if Kakko or Lafreniere really do suck. I just want an answer to that question. Even if it means losing a playoff series.

Exactly and if you don't think the kids with the offensive skill will be a net positive (even through their mistakes) then you don't keep them in the NHL just to twist them into a mental pretzel

Ding ding ding

We’ve asked them to develop into depth grinders and are now pissed they’ve developed into depth grinders

I've been saying this for months.

There were many Kid Line fanboys who shredded me for saying this.

The Kid Line started because Gallant didn't know what to do with those three players so he just threw them together not even caring what happened because he didn't intend to use them much anyway.

Many Rangers fans fell for the ruse this season and convinced themselves the Kid Line was a good thing which of course is exactly what Gallant wanted. It saves him from any sort of scrutiny regarding their deployment or why our first and second overall draft picks aren't doing anything.

TBF, and I'm probably one of the hardest fans of the kids, down the stretch, that line was clicking. However, like most things Rangers, they were very inconsistent. Points for some weeks, ghosts the next. I actually thought KK looked great in the Top 6. Didn't mind Fil on PP1 either. Laf has always and probably will always be my issue. I just don't know what the kid's identity is. He's not fast. Doesn't play much D. Can pass alright. Has hands once in 70 games. For what we got for a 1OA is basically a grinder. He's looked like one since the moment he left juniors and became a pro, and no one will convince me otherwise.

The worst part is barely testing this f***ing newbie goaltender....how many floaty bullshit shots from the blue line did they take? Such an easy game for him.

It's scary and disappointing how those players brought in here with so much scrutiny have been two of our best forwards.
The players are fine, Tarasenko especially its just that the makeup of the rest of the team is too similar to Kane, softish, all skill, not speedy, pass first player. I mean it will never happen but I'd actually prefer to see Motte with Zib and Panarin for some speed and sandpaper, someone to retrieve pucks and make the dmen think twice about going in the corner after the puck, someone who will crash the net for rebounds, not enough of it in our top 9.

Pardon me, sorry to interrupt the depression.

These last 2 games sucked, but this is still a series. The Devils have seemingly found a new trick on defense, but quite honestly I'll wait to see if they can do this at home. Best of 3 from here on out. Need to find their balls.
