That's another sop I'm tired of seeing. The Kid Line is GALLANT's idea. For two years I've been saying the kids need to be INTEGRATED into the team. Now they are easy prey and Gallant can throw them to the wolves as an excuse when his game plan fails. Kakko has done nothing to deserve to be stapled to the third line. As you yourself has said repeatedly the Kreider Zib Kakko line was good. Laffy basically just exists at this point. This is awful coaching and management.

This is AGAIN the NYR tripping over it's own feet trying to be a cup contender and not having the mental acuity, or patience, to actually build one.
Don't get me started on these lines.

Gallant has come up with exactly one good one with all this talent he has at his disposal (Kreider-Trocheck-Kane) and he goes out of his way to not play them.

He creates holes in the top six and a lot of awkward pairings to keep his stupid f***ing overrated ass kid line together.

People talk about Kakko might be a decent role player - yeah, you gotta play with the talent to be a role player.

Don't be dense, I'm not telling you what to talk about, as you said you do a wonderful job of doing that to other people.
You kind of are, though.

You're not disagreeing with my point, you're saying my point isn't important to you because it's not the players you want to criticize.

Goals against on lack of floor balance and royal road. What did I do to the hockey gods?

They can do it somewhere else. Who cares?

I'm not losing sleep over it if Lafreniere moves and becomes a slower, dumber Vince Trocheck.

His ceiling is dime a dozen at this point.
This. If Lafreniere becomes a 60-point player somewhere else who f***ing cares. We needed him to be a superstar like every other f***ing 1st overall pick in the last 20 years. If you want to win a cup you need it. Same for Kakko. Instead we get third liners and get to hear about how we have to be patient and wait for them to be a mediocre 2nd liner when they are 25. Give me a break. And no it doesn't take away from the fact that Panarin and Zibanejad and Trocheck have been garbage. It just exacerbates the problem.

Still can’t get over putting Goodrow on the ice down a goal with the net empty. Guy is a black hole offensively, and basically gets buried on every shift defensively, he’s the weak link on the 4th line. Hopefully an old time GM takes his contract and we don’t have to give anything up.

I've been saying this for months.

There were many Kid Line fanboys who shredded me for saying this.

The Kid Line started because Gallant didn't know what to do with those three players so he just threw them together not even caring what happened because he didn't intend to use them much anyway.

Many Rangers fans fell for the ruse this season and convinced themselves the Kid Line was a good thing which of course is exactly what Gallant wanted. It saves him from any sort of scrutiny regarding their deployment or why our first and second overall draft picks aren't doing anything.

Laf deserves plenty of blame for the game he played tonight. He’s been miserable in this series. As has Panarin and Mika and Trocheck frankly. He had Schmid deep in the net and ducking and he fired a puck 20 feet wide. It’s a goal if he hit the net to take the lead.

Hard to blame Tarasenko who’s got 2 goals Kane has 6 points in 4 games. He showed up. Kreider has 5 goals. But Mika Panarin laf Trocheck the 4 of them really have been just terrible
I think he didn't execute it. As Emrick would have said, good conception of a play. He probably was trying to clip it inside the far post. Sweep it with a different angle maybe it catches Schmid 5 hole.

Gallant had Kakko and Lafreniere in the top 6 on different lines for the first month of the season and they both still did dick.

Why don't they just put Kane and Panarin on their strong sides?

They don't shoot anyway.
Why don't they just remove Trouba? Sure, the puck hops on bad Garden ice but he's never corralled one his whole time here at the point.

Right, like, even if they become, let's call it "good," that isn't the point.

It really hit me hard when people were rooting for them to hit 40 points during the last game. Tim Stutzle had 40 points on Thanksgiving. Jack Hughes slips in the shower and puts up 40 points before he hits the ground. Jason Robertson is even slower than Lafreniere and he shits his pants and puts up 40 points changing his underwear.

Now we're getting into the deep stuff that really should be aired out more in the roster building thread, but here it goes anyway.

This exact point is why this won't stop happening until this team get the Glen Sather and James Dolan stink off of them. This is the worst organization in the league when it comes to nurturing and developing forward talent. I'd almost rather let Brennan Othmann play an overage year in the OHL than be wading in the shitty waters of Hartford. That's where the career's of any prospect with any kind of offensive upside go to die. It's uncanny. What's wrong down there?

Even the big club development is a disaster. You can argue (and we agree here) that Lafreniere was never going to be a player in this league. Doesn't have a single plus attribute that would make him a gamebreaker in any sense of the word. He just bullied smaller and younger kids in the Q and made them look bad with his size.

But Kakko man, WTF happened? This is the one that bothers me. The kid was making established NHL'ers look silly at the World Championships the month before the draft. Bodying them and making them look weak. And he comes here and plays like a timid fairy. Again, what's wrong here?

Kravtsov and Andersson were self indulgent picks from the get go with smarmy, smartest man in the room, galaxy brain syndrome logic like the McIlrath and Jessiman picks that came before them. I knew from the get go they'd regret not trying hard enough to trade up to #3 or #4 to get Pettersson and not going for Farabee.

The development of any prospect with any kind of offensive upside is something that this organization has failed with systematically since their inception. It's astounding. It's their MO to draft their goalies and defensemen well and to sign their offensive talent in free agency. Chris Kreider is going to get his jersey retired almost by default because this organization's track record is so f***ing sad with regards to developing offensive talent.

To sum it up, I have no faith in this organization's ability to develop gamebreaking forward talent even if Dolan gives the ok to tear things down again. But what are they to do if they get bounced in round 1 in a year when the GM gave them the vote of confidence by going all in at the deadline and outright pandering to their overpaid forward by bringing his butt buddy who whined his way here.

Who knows, maybe the Knicks make a run and he focuses on them and leaves Drury and Sather to their devices again. I'm sure he'd be happy to be rid of Panarin's wages, at least.
The core issue is they try to develop forwards here the way most teams (including nyr) develop defenseman with incredibly sheltered roles to play safe hockey, but you can't take kids that have been offensively focused for the past decade of their lives and say "forget what got you here and just be a new aged jed ortmeyer for a few years." It's insane how they neuter forwards here. And completely agree about laffy pre draft. If stutz is here he is probably not given the same offensive opportunities but the difference in skill between he and laffy is almost comical.

I’m just jealous. This is supposed to be our year.

The Devils have a better future than we do. They shouldn’t have a better present as well.

I’ll sit and watch and hope and pray that these guys find a way to win these next couple of games but everything I’ve been worried about (here’s looking at you Artemi) is looking correct.

I feel bad for Igor. You can see his frustration. If he loses a series to some random ass fifth round rookie… man.

Being a fan of this team is really difficult.

All of this.

The rest of this series dictates this core's legacy. Everything went right in Games 1 and 2 and they did absolutely everything wrong in 3 and 4. It's level now. It's a series and you're not in trouble until you lose at home and lose away.

I still think they pull this out. The Devils won the battle of attrition twice in a row, not because they outplayed the Rangers. If this is the best they've got, the Rangers are going to round 2. Take it to the bank.

Jason Robertson is what Tob acknowledges as a real Fil, unlike Chytil

I hate to say it, but this is far from the best the Devils have. Their stars, outside of Hughes, have been relatively poor.

The problem is we haven’t taken advantage of their depth not showing up.
