Only two games but if you would have told me Kane would have 4 points to Mika's 1 I would have said you are crazy. The fact is (not looking at scoresheet only) Mika has been fine, engaged and been playing like a 2 way center in the playoffs should be playing.

The deadline acquisitions, plus Trocheck, are making Drury look really good right now based on 2 games. I'm going to keep attaching that suffix until it happens more because things can change on a dime. Trocheck and Tarasenko are big time gamers. Kane and Panarin are two peas in a pod in terms of needing only 1 or 2 opportunities to make a mark. Mikkola is playing above and beyond as a 3rd-pair dman.

What's impressive and crazy to me is we've posted 10 goals with minimal contribution from Zib. Never would have happened last year. We're so deep and talented now that a ppg top line center can more or less disappear from the score sheet and we still rack up the goals.

Victory laps are a bit premature here. This Devils team does not look ready for playoff hockey, but that can change on a dime with a few adjustments.

Zib has been pretty awesome on our side of center ice. There's a reason Hughes isn't doing much.

Oh I know. I'm not trying to imply he isn't contributing. Even drawing the penalty on Meier yesterday with his hustle was nice to see. Strictly referring to how our pp used to often end on his stick and if he wasn't on the score sheet it usually meant we didn't produce much.

Zibanejad and Trochek are playing well but little to no points. They are facilitating to their skilled wingers and playing responsible two-way hockey. They are a BIGF reason why the Devils have been kept to 2 goals through 2 games.

Yep, obviously we've blown the doors off of them 2 straight games but you need 4 to win the series. We were down 3-1 and 2-0 last year and won both series - then the series we lead 2-0 we lost.

No mercy, foot stays on the gas.

I’m not looking for something to complain about, but was anyone else frustrated with the officials tonight. Both penalties on fox were fantom calls. The cross check on mikkola was ridiculous as well I truly believe we will see more of the same as the NHL will try to make these series go more then 4-5 games

Also what was up with the officials throwing half the benches out of the game due to one standard fight. I’ve never seen anything like that, let alone a play off game

every single other Ranger on the team would have 100% tried and forced that pass over to Kreider, instead he made an amazing move.

Cannot be understated, especially with CK having 2 goals and him getting the hat trick being more important than scoring another one to seal it. It was probably a 10-20% chance on that pass connecting, but more likely it would have been either tipped or sent further ahead to CKs backhand (useless as he would be in too deep with a Devils stick now in the passing lane back to Kane), Kane absolutely made the right move.

To be fair, Tarasenko and maaaaybe Trochek probably would have shot it too, Mikola as well only because he wouldn't have noticed Kreider even on the ice

The highlights showed me, that we have that certain puck bouncing luck so far. But it's not all luck.

That play-making we already have in the top 6 + Kreider's virtuoso deflections in front of the net, is a weapon I have yet to have seen in the NHL like that ... it's nutty to me. It's been developing for years. Now add Kane's showtime play-making, we see how you can't stick-check the guy. He just finds stupid openings right through sticks and legs. I'm convinced it's near impossible to defend and adjust to that kind of weapon. Teams better stay disciplined against us.

Kane with a huge game, where he showed poise, speed, defense, and I even saw a 120 lbs hit thrown in there too. That's is Showtime. Keep playing like that, and we might not retain our current level-headedness.

Fox at the end of the game? They were just keeping the lid on a tinderbox.

The officiating has been NHL normal, which is bad, but nothing egregious yet in my eyes.

I think he has more offensive upside than that. He's shown some flashes and I think we'll see more as he becomes more comfortable in the league.
