Only two games but if you would have told me Kane would have 4 points to Mika's 1 I would have said you are crazy. The fact is (not looking at scoresheet only) Mika has been fine, engaged and been playing like a 2 way center in the playoffs should be playing.
Plus we all know he will wake up offensively at some point in this series.

Game 2 proves that when executed, the Devils' advantages can be neutralized, making the game more "fair". On the flip, the Devils had no answer to our advantages. If we expect the Rangers to continue to damper NJD, our position to even sweep goes up greatly. I don't EXPECT a 4 and out, even if we do everything right because the NHL is random, but what I find more interesting is if the Devils adapt and try to say pressure the point more, eliminate CK's net front presence. Do we then unleash Zib since he would be open more?
Can we out "yomi" the Devils when they inevitable switch that strategy up? Only time will tell!

This is a much better team than last year's. Tampa deserved to win. We deserve to win now.
My point is that I hope they can remember the spot they were in last year and how close they were to where they wanted to be, and that it got away from them. Whether it was "deserved" or not, they had a 2-0 lead in Game 3 of a series they were up 2-0. They let it get away. I just hope that is still clear in their minds and they continue playing with this intensity and structure and use that as additional motivation to see this series through.

Agreed. I hope all the NYR players who went through it should have it fresh in their mind. And Kane and Tarasenko and their 4 rings should be there to remind them should they forget.

I think they understand the task at hand. They were on both ends of the dreaded 2-0 lead last year. I am excited for Saturday at the Garden. I think the team will smell blood in the water.

Since '94, this is probably the first or second season where the Rangers are rightfully considered Cup contenders. They have all the ingredients. They just need to put in the work and get past the Bruins.

All those years with Hank, he was the best player on the team and they were pretty much underdogs in every series from the second round on. The only series they lost during the Hank years that I thought they should have won were against the Devils (2011-12) and the Senators (2016-17).

Same like we can Blais sucks but he doesn't suck in STL.

Still glad we got rid of him.
Yes, but at the same time good for him. I though he was done in the NHL because of that injury and the way he looked with us. Turns out, get back into a familiar environment and everything clicks. There are some players in this league who are really enjoying sticking at one place and one place only. Remember Patrick Berglund? Traded from St. Louis to Buffalo, and he got so depressed he left to Sweden because he only wanted to be in St. Louis or home. Wasn't it reported that Blais never really settled in Manhattan and missed St. Louis?

I would really like to keep Mikkola, but he will probably outprice us. Not that he's anything that can't be replaced, hopefully from within.

Schneider has had 2 fights against the devils and like 7 guys immediately left the game and didn’t come back.

They were certainly contenders in 2015. Presidents trophy, finals appearance the year before, etc.

Can make the case for 2012 as well as they finished with the 2nd best point total in the league. I guess that one was a bit more out of the blue and they were a bit more of a mirage, but that group willed it self to winning way more than they should have.

I think he has more offensive upside than that. He's shown some flashes and I think we'll see more as he becomes more comfortable in the league.

This is the most talented forward group that we've had in the 35 years that I've followed the team.
It's a different type of offensive upside. McIlrath had a hard shot from the point. Potentially a 15 goal, 35 point player if all went well. Schneider has more of a sneaky shot that gets to the net well. Still has that 30 to 35 point upside, but more assists than anything.

Wouldn’t it be something if Meier doesn’t stay in NJ after going through this series. He hasn’t been impressive at all.

What's kind of wild is that playing away, the Devils were clearly targeting a Hughes vs Mikkola-Schneider matchup. Those guys didn't get as much credit as they should have and I believe that is also why we saw Zibanejad and Trochek not break out offensively as much as they were expected to.

At what point do we accept that Fox is the best dman in the league?
What about all the Erik Karlsson fans? He basically plays forward on a shitty SJ team and those points were empty calories. He scored 101 points and was still a -26.

My only concern is that we're one injury away from Harpoon or Jake the Snake being in the lineup.
Yeah, I know. Is that a "given" though? Obviously we don't want to lose anybody, but pretty sure we could sustain 1 injury, any more than that then, whatever positives we got from TDL will bring us back to the pack. Please God, no serious injuries.
