One worrisome trend that translated from the regular season to the playoffs was an inability to get the puck through the neutral zone vs the Devils forecheck for long stretches.

If we can fix that, it may be a quick series. If we can’t, it’s going to be a coin flip.

By the way I thought Hughes, who was playing at near 100%, made a dozen+ passes in the o-zone to, um, the Rangers, cuz he expected his teammates to keep up and be there - but they just weren’t (or were a step or two behind). Dunno why.

If they figure it out, game 2 could be a bigger challenge than tonite.

I expect New Jersey to play better in Game 2. It will be a bigger challenge. We took care of business tonight but every game is it’s own animal. I’m enjoying this for now but they better come to play Game 2. Pretty satisfied with the game plan and execution tonight

Great overall team performance. I voted Mika (tremendous first period for him), Goodrow, and Lindy (what a snipe!).

My only concerns were the play of Kane (looks like he can hardly skate) and Schneider (looked to be reacting/behind the play for most of the night). Bigger concern is Kane. You have to have a top line that produces to go far in the playoffs.

And the PP was good tonight because Fox and Kreider did what they do, but do we really no longer look ro set up Mika's one timer?

Hard to pick only 3 stars for this one. Great team performance. But if you can only pick 3 .
1. Chris Keider - besides the 2 goals he and Zibby on the PK create more chances than the other teams PP
2.Foxy Fox - 4 points, +2, 3 hits , 4BS, and 1 take away........enough said.
3. Ryan Lindgren - I f***ing love this guy. Besides that beauty of a goal, he made a crushing hit that seemed to give us some spark and just played good tough all around defence. Whoever counted only 3 blocked shots for him needs to watch more Sesame Street.

But like I said almost everyone was solid. The PK was perfect. Anybody still want to get rid of Goodrow?

The kids played very good tonight . If they keep that up and control the puck along the boards and wear down the opposition in their own zone , we are going to be very hard to beat. Fourth line was so solid with energy and tight checking.

Trouba very physical and blocking big shots.

Shesty with a very solid game. Tank as well .Hard to leave guys out but I'll end it there.

LETS GO RANGERS !

Reminder to those who are frustrated with Millers turnover, his insane pass to Tarasenko for the first goal could of very well been the catalyst for the eventual win. Getting the early lead is that huge.
Everyone knows he has ability to make talented plays but that one has no place in the NHL. Bald exposure of his thought process or lack thereof. Weak call ultimately but it never should have happened.

Kane must still be fighting the injury because he played like a disinterested merc.

Other than that, feels good

The threat of him is pretty well respected. I think he deferred like crazy throughout the whole game. Couple that with the Devils speed on the rush and it kind of negates him completely.

If we move on Kane will be a big part in the coming series.

Every team in the league is expected Zibby's one timer. We changed our look up and scored 2 on the PP. It's good to know we have that in our back pocket whenever, but I'm loving the dirty goals and tip ins.

Great job tonight

Win game 2 and get through this series as quickly as possible to gain some rest.

Goodrow does everything needed from your glue guy in the playoffs. His paycheck is for game 83 onward and has very little to do with 1-82.

It's laughable to think how much more money Blake Coleman got than goodrow that year with free agency coming

Wonderfully deep team that if they commit to playing the right way have a chance to do something special. The focus tonight was evident.

2nd period was woeful until Lindy scored. Woke them up for the rest of the game.
They got complacent and started with the foofoo, lazy, east/west pretty stuff.

Every time Tarasenko speaks, he says all the right things. He's locker room/leadership gold. Bring him back Drury.
at this point it's not even a question. He must be re-signed.
