Awesome win!
Some little fixing needed, but I think we'll win this series.

Haven't really watched many Devils games before, but damn that Hughes guy is dangerous.
He can stop, turn and accelerate in a blink of an eye. Rangers have to contain him for the rest of the series.

He looked slow and was a turnover machine, I think he was brought for more than just PP time and he didn’t really give it.

I think he’s cooked. Unless he’s far more injured than reported.

According to Vally, we turned over the puck a total of three times. According to NHL stats, Kane had one giveaway.

Doesn't really support the above.

It is crazy to say this after a 5-1 win but I think they have to be MUCH better to win this series.

I think that win was mostly Igor beating Vanicek, which should continue but maybe not to the same degree, which means other areas will need to pick up the slack.

The team went far too long generating no offense at all. You won’t get two power play goals every night. They got caved at 5v5, which I know is kind of their thing, but it can’t be THAT bad going forward or they are going to get caved on the scoreboard.

Well the offense appeared to die on his stick a number of times even if it was not official turnovers. And you’d like to see him creating some offense more than just passing around the edges on the power play.

On a team full of veteran superstars and elite 4th line grinders, the kids were the line that we looked to multiple times to stabilize the game and get some extended zone time. I hope they realize how important their roles are this year; there is a whole lot to learn about how to win in this league from what's being asked of them.

Players Peak Playoff Performance Game 1
23-91-10-20-4-77-55-13-72-24-21-93-79-26-31
Need to improve game 2
16-8-14
Need a replacement for game 2
88..didn't we do a medical exam? He is standing still and when he tries to accelerate he is compromised. 26 moves up but who is his replacement? Put Tank on PP1 and move Mika back to his old spot..From the beginning the Kane move was forced versus all the other thought out moves. Hope this doesn't bite us in the ass and I am not talking about the draft pick. Great game with a desperation that is needed in a playoff game, Bravo to GG for having the players ready.

Looks like they need to improve the injection concoction for Kane's hip for next game...clearly whatever they gave him wasn't working very well. C'mon Dolan, use your money wisely.

You got the feeling the Kane and Tarasenko were sleepwalking during the regular season...just waiting for playoff time...

Rangers came out flying, put up some quick goals on the Devils, and you can see the inexperience be a factor in that first period. Devils made adjustments, started to push back in the 2nd, but Rangers weathered the storm and that 3rd goal I think was the game by that point.

With that said, I expect the Devils to make more adjustments, but if the Rangers can clog up that neutral zone and take away that rush and speed game from the Devils, then I feel pretty confident.

Tarasenko Is becoming that x-factor I’d hope, Kane looks cooked, Our 4th line looks really good, and well Adam Fox looked like his Foxy self. Devils still have enough skill to make the Rangers pay, but after last night, think they can maybe put some doubt in their heads. Still think this goes 6 or even 7 games.

I have been very impressed with Tarasenko. Not a one dimensional goal scorer, he plays a 200 foot game, great on the defensive side of the puck. You can tell he knows what it takes to win.

Speaking of knowing how to win: what a game by Goodrow. He had those Callahan-style shot blocks and was all over the ice, making sure the puck cleared our zone and stayed deep. Those types of "glue players" like Torts would say really make a difference.

Really hoping that Kane can give us some prime playoff Kane moments. Even just of few of these like what St. Louis brought could be a gamebreaker.

And honestly who saw a 5-1 win? If you told me that before the game I would've never taken that bet. Was good to set the tone in their building.

I thought Igor was the best Ranger out there and almost singlehandedly kept the Devils off the board in the second. Fox was Norris winning Fox. Awesome game. Goodrow and Motte played a tough, physical game with a lot of blocked shots. Kreider looked like he had the eye of tiger going, hopefully he can continue that level of play. I thought Miller and Schneider had tough games on defense. Miller's pass started the Hughes breakaway that led to the penalty shot. I think he's lacking confidence.
Overall a good game. There are areas where they can improve, but a win is a win in the playoffs.

Schneider and Mikkola played the most at even strength, which is absolutely the correct thing in a 3-0, 4-0 game.

That explains why the third period was a bit bupkis but not as bupkis as the second period when Broken Tuba and P'Ossession Killer were still playing a lot.

Miller and Trouba had an xGF% of 17.6% and 21%. No other Ranger was below 33%. Them getting caved like that is just another Tuesday. It's gonna be a problem.

Maybe move Mikkola up with Trouba? Not sure if that would help or not. Don’t want them to break up the Lindgren - Fox pairing that pairing has been money right now.

I missed playoff Mas.

Everytime the Rangers win they don't deserve it. When they lose, it's "I told you so."

Miller has such stupid brainfarts but he set up the first goal...it's such a mixed bag with him every night. Trouba will rock someone in this series, no doubt about that.
