I know every year it seems we close the book on another draft class that came to nothing, and then we get excited again, and then another draft class is done ( like Poehling is the last guy standing from 2017 ).I'm a believer in Farrell and the sample size is starting to pile up. A little early with Hutson but yeah, the kid can skate and has skill.
This might be the most talented group of prospects in development camp for decades? Standing out like Poehling a few years ago is not the same as standing out in this camp.
Of course he looks decent, there are no stakesI feel nausea every time I watch clips of Wright at his development camp. Bad feeling.
Now where would we be getting that idea from?
Scored goals... Skates like the wind, high compete, great hands, awesome shot. Why, what did he do?

You can compare Gretzky to any player you like, he's still The Great One, and they're not.
I hope youre right. For my sanity.Of course he looks decent, there are no stakes![]()
I would pick Jean Béliveau as my #1C to start a franchise over Wayne Gretzky. Better leader, more suited for any kind of hockey environment, can inspire teammates by his play because they can try to do what he does, much bigger and physical, much better defensively. Truth is, you don't need a player who scores 200 points to win, you only need one who can beat the #1C on the other side in a 7 games series, and Béliveau could beat anybody, including Gretzky.

What matters is his upside. I hated safe picks when the ceiling is as a 3rd liner. If the ceiling is a 2nd line player, I am good with that.Said it on draft day but I'll reiterate again; Beck will be an NHLer, no doubt in my mind. He plays (hate this term) the "right way". Always seems to be in good position and plays an NHL style game. No fancy little kid junior plays, just smart decision making and positioning, with the skills to match.
People talk about him being the "safe pick" over DBB, but I feel that does Beck an injustice. Different kind of players for sure, but it was a good pick regardless.
I creeped the Seattle forum too. Ughhhhh....tough to watch. At least if he breaks out....NJ and Arizona can share the pain. There's so much talent on the ice, looks explosive in his drills, knows how to slow the defender down, knows where the puck is going to be, and has hands for days. We don't have a player like that at this camp, or any camp, I can remember. He looks like he has superstar potential. You just see it. Clear as day.

Like Gretzky, he benefited from privileges in the OHL other players weren’t afforded in terms of defensive play and back check. Unlike Gretzky, those privileges will not continue to the NHL. He’ll need to radically alter his game. We’ll see what he looks like this Fall. There's so much talent on the ice, looks explosive in his drills, knows how to slow the defender down, knows where the puck is going to be, and has hands for days. Again... no surprise... It's exactly what people said about him prior to the draft. There's so much talent on the ice, looks explosive in his drills, knows how to slow the defender down, knows where the puck is going to be, and has hands for days. Where do you see that ? There's like 15 seconds of video on their forum of a few 1 on 1 drills.
Nothing happened really, they had high intensity close quarter drills going for one hour. Engqvist showed some sick hands, Lane sniped one and thats about it.Are there any video snippets from today for the Europoors?
It's always hard to tell. Many people in 2003 would claim that Shea Weber was a shutdown defenseman and Patrice Bergeron a 3rd line center at best. It's hard to project on how players will evolve and develop over the years. What matters is his upside. I hated safe picks when the ceiling is as a 3rd liner. This is nonsense.Good for Wright if he finds his game, but he showed nothing all year. I won't hold it against HuGo for going another way. Wright was his own worst enemy in 2022.

However, I think the last couple of years Timmins actually went more with skill and speed , and certainly HUGO did , and I think we see that in the Camp. So I dont know about most talented in decades, but the most talented in a long time for sure.
Timmins seemed to like evaluating himself based on games played, whereas to me that is a garbage stat, what matters is how many top 6F/4D and starting goalies you draft. I think we may have a few of those in this bunch.
Screw that. He probably won't ever amount to anything but that kind of skating for 6'5? I'm down to keep an eye on him.
Excuse is already all made upThis is nonsense.
