Love our depth! Compher can chip in, Fabbri too when healthy, Sprong and Perron provide goals from time to time. I had almost given up on Veleno before this season but he’s been great. Trying him with Larkin and Raymond could be his big breakthrough. Ray has been hot lately. Maybe Compher and DBC can get Raz going as well.

Also, feels like there are less injuries this season. Roster competition making players more engaged in staying healthy?

Something to chew on for the "Bettman hates the Wings" crowd, bad enough we had the only back to back in Sweden, but I am sure the Wings US players are kinda pissed they have to play an afternoon game on the Friday after Thanksgiving. No doubt they had to travel today to be ready for tomorrow. Not really the reward you should get for going to Sweden for playing divisional games.
I've traveled on holidays, and I make a lot less money than these guys. Bettman can go stuff himself, however I doubt he decides the entire NHL schedule on his own. He may not be involved at all. Scheduling is a lot of work. 1312 games total.

Playing in Boston on top of it. I'm expecting a lazy game tomorrow out of the boys, and won't be too annoyed about it.
They better play well. The team is on the edge of the playoffs, and if that doesn't motivate them then nothing will. Time to fire the coach if they go into Boston with that mentality.

Players don't get to choose when they get injured, lol. Larkin is nursing something, but everyone else seems to be healthy.

Walman took a couple of slappers so his shoulder is fine, and Fabbri seems back up to speed now.

Minnesota played back to back and had it far worse than us. They played an afternoon game and then the next day an even earlier after noon game.

16 minutes for Mo tonight?
He only had 6 shifts in the 2nd due to his penalties and 2 of them were really short. I feel like there had to be a reason for the gaps early in that period too. Like a stinger or something.

Yeah, I'm not wild with the random "I'm going to play the 3rd pairing as if they're the 1st pairing" games that we have gotten a few times now.
Only thing that makes sense to me is they're showcasing some of our Dmen hoping to get a call on one of them.

Makes Yzerman look like is isn't desperate to move someone to bring up ED while actually holding Seider back a bit due to needing a new contract? Who knows just spitballin some thoughts.

There is a tiny bit of extenuating circumstances in today's game with the other two pairings getting caught on the ice for freaking ever and Mo's penalties. That said... any kind of intentional limiter on Mo's icetime rather than maximizing his icetime so he can continue to grow as a player is bonkers. If Mo becomes a $10M/yr player, that's massively great for us. If he's stifled and we aren't doing everything we can to make him the best version of him that we can... so we can turn him into a $6-7M/yr player? That's not a win for us.

Mo, did have 6 minutes in penalties and was on the second PP unit which I may add didn't have a lot of time on the PP

Those would be some of the extenuating circumstances cited. The rest of my post was in regards to an in general less than optimal usage of Mo and a response to a theory that we might be limiting his opportunities to keep him cheaper.

Totally agree with maximizing his potential. I'm hopefully we get calls for any other of the dmen aside from walman and ghost who I hope we extend.

Some stats after about a quarter of the season done

10th in win percentage and points
5th in goals scored per game
14th in goals against per game
7th in goal difference

We're on pace for
102 points
303 goals for
240 goals against

We have two players playing at a ppg pace or above in Larkin and Debrincat, Ghost is one point away from that.

82 game season stats for some players:
Larkin 86 points
Dcat 80 points
Ghost 78 points
Compher 70 points

Here's some more interesting stats!

Detroit is...

10th best in the league after 20 games!

1st in powerplay opportunities (Really suprised to read that.)
10th in powerplay percentage
13th in powerplay goals against
15th in penalty kill percentage
5th in powerplay opportunites against (Yikes!)
27th in shorthanded goals for (uno)
8th in shorthanded goals against (uno)
13th in PIMs per game
5th in opponent PIMs per game
4th in shooting percentage
13th in save percentage (better than I expected...)

A better penalty kill and less dumb penalties (looking at you, Perron...) and this team is shaving even more goals against off and probably 4 points better in the standings, which would make them top 5.

isn't that what they did with hedman in the beginning though....

Husso's .888 SV% would tie him for the 20th team, SJS. It's Lyon and Reimer that bring it up to 13th. Lyon's SV% is above #1 Boston, but small sample size. Lyon should be playing more games.

I don't see it. However he could be nicked up a little.
Exactly, The guy played 24:33 against Boston the game prior and nearly 30 mins against Ottawa in Sweden. I can't say why he wasn't utilized more, he could have been - he could've had those 3 penalties and gotten 18-19 mins.
