Detroit Red Wings 23/24 season thread

It’s just not much of a rebuild, even if we win the next 10 games. The players that are supposed to be our future core are not getting the ice time they need to develop and learn, and Chiarot is being deployed as our #1D. Unless they win the cup with this strategy, it is pointless for the development of the team unless you think Chia/Holl/Maatta/Petry/Copp/Compher are going to win us a cup.

The point of these vets is supposed to be to insulate and support our core top young players, not supplant them.
Also none of our future core are that great. Not gonna be able to build around guys like Raymond, Danielson and Kasper. They’re complimentary guys at best.

What frustrates me is not one of the main media people who directly interview lalonde on a daily basis have the guts to ask him how many losses it will take for the team to make a move to bring Ed up. What useless media. Do your jobs!

Media is everywhere the same, overpaid and unprofessional.

I was having a lot more fun until December rolled around

I feel like I keep watching the same season over and over again with the same messages from the coach over and over and over

Fast, energetic first couple of months then the New Year rolls around and we sink into lethargic mediocrity. Am I crazy or has it been eight straight years of this same story?

Really sick and tired of the nice guy coach shtick. A decade of the organization preaching defense but rarely playing it…

Probably gonna take a break watching till they call up Edvinsson. Lost a lot of faith in Yzerman with that. Comical really

Let’s get Raymond and Seider on the ice with our big guns too. DEVELOP

I am in the same boat.

This team needs a tougher coach.

Or at least more personalities in the locker room that hold players accountable. There's too many nice guys on this team. I don't get the impression they have many leaders.

Same...I've been a broken record here...Lanlonde doesn't appear to be any different than Blashill (judging by the eye test and scoreboard).

Agreed...Same message same results...I want an outsider that pushes this team and isn't pals with the players.

It showed the Wings' record scoring 4+ goals 15-0-3 vs scoring 3 or fewer 0-13-1
Which isn't really surprising when the starting goalie has a GAA higher than 3.

I have a mustache, and I've worn a cup.

.... and I just found out that you can spell mustache either way, though Americans tend to drop the o.

Gonna lose to that shit team as well, Kane will be thinking "where the f*** did i sign?"
Don't say i didn't say so.

Well to be more honest, wtf is this d-zone play Wings have been doing the last 3-5 games? Those blind passes by defenders to the middle might lead to a quick breakaway that results in a goal, but god damn it's been looking horrible when every one of them end up in the opponents stick. Can we please stop doing that? If the coach is telling the defenders to put it blindly in the middle instead of making the safe play along the boards they need to watch some videos and if it doesnt hit them they need to resign.

The results of these blind passes to the middle in the d-zone have results though, what kind you might ask:

I would fire Lalonde. These 3+ blown leads are unacceptable. And I cannot blame it all on goalies. What, all three of them suck now?
We have gone from losing 5-1 to being 5-5 after losing a lead. Which do you prefer?

Hell yes goaltending is a major issue. At least 3-4 goals on Reimer get stopped by an average goalie.

The first move before firing Lalonde is trading for an actual NHL goalie and then improving the blue lines personnel.

If after doing that the same problems repeat you give Lalonde his pink slip

It is easier to fire the coach but the results would be the same..

SY needs to address the goaltending and fence personnel first
SY does what he can. If he could land Shesterkin and McDavid, he would.
Lalonde is not up to scratch, working with what SY gave him. He clearly has no control over what's going on the ice.

No you're right... I just wonder aloud whether their is any goalie anywhere somewhere between reimer and shesterkin?

Crap in..crap out..
