They have no cap space to change much. Trading Kerfoot for space isn't going to make the team better either.
THIS^.The constant roster churn is a liability at this point. The bargain bin shopping is an embarrassment. The Soo nepotism has gotten to a point where it seems Dubas is more interested in personal relationships than whats best for the organization. Him scoffing at a question about Barry Trottz being available and the fireable offence of acquiring Matt Murray at 4.7 are two prime examples. This regime has normalized the concept of an "own rental" when in reality this is just some of the worst asset management i've ever witnessed, the number of high end players that have walked for nothing the past couple years is criminal. The Tavares contract is an unmitigated disaster at this point. This team is staring down the possibility of losing Matthews 3 years earlier than necessary. Remember the good old days when we had Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kapanen, Brown, Johnson, Moore on entry level deals and Kadri, Rielly, Hyman & Andersen on sweet heart deals? I do and what a lost opportunity. What sad times as a Leafs fan, another lost generation of fans. Dubas has dismembered one of the best opportunities the NHL has seen in a very long time.
lol its embarrassing you would ever compare this tire fire of an organization to one of the greatest teams the NHL has seen in the last 40 years.Nah, Chicago did it every year when they were winning.

Most of this is nothing more than over the top nonsense/wailing at the heavens. The constant roster churn is a liability at this point. The bargain bin shopping is an embarrassment. In retrospect, unreal how much signing Tavares has screwed us. I was over the moon at the time, but we should taken it slowly. We rushed it, went too top heavy, and viola.Yeah it's a weird one. When he took over the GM position he had Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Reilly, Andersen, Kadri, Hyman, Brown, Johnsson, Kapanen and a slew of others. Had cap space and a young team on the rise.
He's turned Andersen, Kadri, Hyman, Brown, Johnsson, Kapanen and 3 x 1st round picks, and a slew of others into Muzzin, Brodie, Kerfoot, Giordano, Bunting and some 4th liners.
LOL wut?
Unlike you, I'm firmly grounded in reality. If you think bookmakers are allowed to drink koolaid on the job, all I can say is you need to think again.Keep drinking that Kool AId
I just checked another site, this one has us as the 3rd cup favourite, after COL and TB (which is the way I see it as well).
The exact numbers vary a bit but both the sites I checked have COL as the clear favourite, then these 4 eastern teams closely bunched as the next 4 top teams.
I get it, losing sucks. But I feel sorry for those people who can't see that this is still one of the best teams in the league and absolutely is not guaranteed to fail again next spring. I can only suggest that you try to put aside your emotions and try to look at it objectively (the way oddsmakers do where lots of real money is in play), you might find your way to the realization that things are nowhere near as bad as you think they are.
GLG!!

There were independent articles about it, social posts etc. I had personal experiences over those days at the bank watching people pulling 5k+ cash at a time. The big 5 had network outages and there is data on the web about that as well. Generally speaking, nobody wants a bank run and the media isn't going to touch it. They bank as well you know.Bollocks. I didn't see one word about that in the press. If you claim it happened, prove it.
Ok... So what does the fact nobody here took discounts to start of with tell you?And that is their choice. Not doing so does not make one greedy, especially if they could have gotten more money elsewhere (ie. Tavares).
Lol are you familiar with the term gaslighting? You literally just compared them to Chicago. Wow this place is worse than i thought.I didn't compare them Skippy, I just pointed out that churning the bottom of the roster isn't an issue.
You really don't seem to understand what bookmakers do.
I don't have time today to explain it, but hopefully someone else here will do so because you're starting to embarrass yourself by continuously quoting the odds.
HAHAHA the bookmakers hey? Their sole purpose is to entice suckers into making more bets.Unlike you, I'm firmly grounded in reality. If you think bookmakers are allowed to drink koolaid on the job, all I can say is you need to think again.![]()
He adds value, but he doesn’t have it in him to be a complete 7 AAV guy. He's not though. He's an excellent player that adds a lot of value to this team. Players can bring value, even if they don't go around bashing people as much as you personally prefer.
I've made tens of thousand of dollars betting on sports over the years and am comfortable saying that I understand sports betting better then most people here. It's true that the lines are set to where they think the money bet will be equally split between all possibilities (which is different from "control and manipulate") and not where they believe the "true" possibilities lie. That said, there is a lot of smart money out there waiting to pounce on major mistakes and it's been true for a few decades not that the lines posted by the bookies are very close to the "true" lines. So the lines I've posted are not 100% accurate (which is impossible anyway as it's not an exact science) but they do do a good job of telling us who the top teams are. Fair enough? So you don't actually grasp that the lines are used to control and manipulate bets?
If they didn't do a good job with the betting lines, they wouldn't print money the way they do. You do realize that sportsbooks make a ton of money right?HAHAHA the bookmakers hey? Their sole purpose is to entice suckers into making more bets.
This thread should read: "Despite major advantages, Kyle Dubas has failed the tests."
What tests has he passed?
For those using the "record season / 115 point team" argument - The team was set to be a perennial 100 point team when he took over. It was just a matter of time with the natural progression of Matthews, Marner and Nylander. Two of which have developed into bonafide superstars.
He's failed on goaltending, contracts for the Big 3, many trades, asset management, coaching, disposing of contracts, etc. I could go on for a while here. The body of work is so large and getting larger (and worse) by the day. It's so disappointing.
Dubas has been a disaster. I didn't understand the promotion to GM the day it was announced. I still don't. I thought it was a major mistake at the time and that's what it has turned out to be. We're now in year 7 of the "Shanplan" Safe to say it isn't going as expected. 0 Playoff series won, in cap hell and staying the course.
Hard to believe but here we go again in the same old cycle with this franchise.
Just be thankful this management group isn't in charge of flying an airliner, or running a private business where results mean life or death for individuals or the business. It's just sports after all. MLSE wins even when the team doesn't.
The Dubas damage control team is in full force since he got bent over by Dorion for Murray.
