Cap hellPalat 6 mill 5 yrs.
Precisely the type of guy the Leafs need in the top of their lineup. Why couldnt they bring him in?

Same reason as 50 minutes ago when you asked the exact same thing. Because that's a significant overpayment for Palat.Palat 6 mill 5 yrs. Precisely the type of guy the Leafs need in the top of their lineup. Why couldnt they bring him in?
Why would we trade somebody we acquired mere days ago to play for us?Ok so why aren't we trying to trade him right now?
The 1.6 million Dubas lost with the ridiculous retention with Murray is inexcusable and no amount of revisionism will ever make that move look attractive. I still can’t fathom why Ottawa didn’t have to take half, it speaks to how desperate they knew we were to actually hold to that demand and we accepted it.If he certainly would have been claimed why was he a real buyout candidate if they couldn’t ditch him? Nobody was touching that salary, that’s common knowledge I thought. Why must we spin everything to fit an infallible GM narrative.
You do realize that we weren't even the first team to try and trade for him, right?
Feels that way so far. We're def not a better team then we were right now. And softer

More accurately, they were willing to move down 9 spots in a weak draft.LOL the Sens were willing to attach #7OA.
Mrazek sliding all the way to boards, reading an ad or two then finally coming back to his crease level of bad
"We lost in the playoffs!!!" isn't justification for making bad signings. What’s been the cost of not having performers like him?
More accurately, they were willing to move down 9 spots in a weak draft.
Waiving wasn't an option at that time because you can't retain in waivers. Nobody would have claimed Murray at 6.25m. At 4.7m post-FA, it's a different story.
We literally just had a franchise record season.Leafs have gotten worse every season under dubas.
Leafs have gotten worse every season under dubas. He has traded away 4 of our forst rnd players. Has over paid the big 4 . One should go but he is married to Nylander who is theobvioud choice to be shipped out because his game isn't well rounded. But he has offensive upside amda dynamic skill level that capitavates those who love him. I'm not not one of the ones whp love we willy. But like i said dubas is married to him. The first of the big 4 to go will be mathews via ufa.
They should fire dubadubasa new gm cna extended him in season or trade him fora bundle because do you wnat to be Calgary and lose your best player for Nothing while he is in his prime Our team is small and timid. We see it yr in and yr out how we lose in the playoffs. Dubas hasn't addressed that. He continues to sign small players 5'8 to to 5'11. Imo he is daring Shanahan to fire him and for whatever reason
Shanahan is a believer in Kyle. So they noth need to be fired soon Goaltending has gotten weaker. When you let your guy go who was a stud when healthy your weakening your team. Murray looked like he was toast last yr. If he plays stake expect to compete in the draft lotto Muzzin and Holl are the weakest links with no help in sight We lost lybushkin and replaced him with nothing so we lose some toughness there as well.
Its a nightmare version of ground hog day. Dubas watched all other teams get better and he signed left overs that other teams didn't wnat. How exciting . I dont get how leaf fans don't have the pitch forks out yet because thast hwta needs to be doen to end this night nsre reign of this pompous unqualified gm pretendunqualified kyle dubas.
He has some strong points but his refusal to fix the very thing that will make our team weaker each yr till the cap finally rises by a couple million most likey the yr mathews leaves via ufa. Lets get ahead of that curve. Leafs Nation is frustrated and horrified wat hjng this story manifest and unfold.
Call rogers call bell email Larry Tannenbaum get dubas and Shanahan fired before we spend 15 yrs put of the playoffs again. What dubas has been doing is bad public relations.
No top free agent came here this yr and that is telling. Its a horror story that needs to be ended before the next chapter gets even gorierer
That one should give us all pause.![]()
NHL Agent Poll: Maple Leafs’ Kyle Dubas Deemed Most Generous GM
A recent poll suggests that Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas is — for better or worse — cozier with agents than the rest of his peers are.www.forbes.com

All For Nothing is what I called it too.Dorion also knew he was dealing with Dubas. Bunkis was saying that in the Muzzin deal, Dubas wanted to include Lily instead of his draft pick Durzi. The Kings wanted Durzi and Dubas caved.
Didn't watch the Amazon series All 4 nothing but didn't he also fold and add a 4th for Foligno ??
They have several bad contracts now. Why did they lose?"We lost in the playoffs!!!" isn't justification for making bad signings.
7th isn't a lottery pick. And while 9 spots are more valuable there than at other points of the draft, there wasn't exactly a massive difference between 7 and 16 in a draft like this. Buffalo seemed quite upset about not getting Murray. And again, you can't retain in waivers, and nobody was taking Murray at 6.25m, especially pre-FA. 4.7m post-FA is a different story. Those 9 spots are huge when you are talking lottery pick., especially in a weak draft.
We don't have "several bad contracts", or "a 7m player that doesn't try in the playoffs". "We lost in the playoffs!!!" isn't justification for making bad signings - that just sets you further back. They have several bad contracts now. Why did they lose?
They have a $7 million player that doesn’t even try in the playoffs
Technically you’re correct. I should have said AAV of ~ $7 million.7th isn't a lottery pick.
