He's been our highest scoring forward in the last few playoffs...and specifically in the elimination games.
He loves cookies but not enough to mess up that trip the worlds with a game 7 effort.

Those two plays he made late in game 7 were just gross.

I know they're not done but these moves are hardly inspiring
As should be the case every year, with every team - let's wait until camp before passing judgment.

Two things of note that Dubas said today that caught my attention:
1 - They aren't done.
2 - Sounds like Sandin extension is nearly done.

The fact we can’t make any serious improvements or changes to this club because of how badly we botched the contracts to the big 4 is what pisses me off the most.

We just have to keep scraping the bottom of the bargain bin every offseason for crap to fill out the roster around our underachieving core and end up with the same result every year.

To top it off, we need to trade assets to get rid of said crap that was just signed a season ago with cap space created by trading other assets/letting assets walk at low value to no value to create that cap space. It’s f***ing insanity.

The cupboard keeps getting more and more bare and we have no cap space to work with. When we do, we use it on idiotic signings like Ritchie, Mrazcrap, and now Murray.

Like what does Dubas do well?

Draft? Nope.
Trades? Nope.
FA Signings? Nope

Crap from top to bottom.

Yup I keep saying this. That off-season fcked this team up for an eternity. Especially the JT contract.
That's where the downfall for this team began. The downfall accelerated with that horrendous Kadri trade.

I'm sure Aube-Kubel, Gaudette, Samsonov, and Malgin will put us over the top.

These small Mickey Mouse signings won't get us any further.

We just got much worse.

It's frustrating man. We need to make some bold moves and not be afraid of major changes in order to succeed. Cup winning teams do it all the time.

Matthews isint going anywhere lol. he has a chance to be a legend and the best leaf and leader in points, goals etc. one cup and his grand kids will be able to use their name to sell autographs on bloor street. hes not leaving..
I hope you're right but I'll have to disagree. Dubas MUST start negotiating an extension with AM as soon as he contractually can. If no contract in a month, trade him.

We've left far too many players walk when we should have at least attempted to trade them. And wasted way too many draft picks when we've made questionable acquisitions.

Never been a Dubas fan, and more so after what he has done the last few years with the draft especially.

This is the coherent version of my thoughts on matter. :thumbu:

Dubas did about as much as I anticipated he would, absolutely nothing of value was done. Our goaltending is easily worse this upcoming season than it was last season. Murray is comparable to Mrazek in terms of injury prone, subpar numbers and unreliability.

Samsonov has never really provided any stellar or promising numbers. He has a career save percentage of .903% and nearly 3 GAA. That doesn't scream confidence to me. I've watched tons of his games with the Caps over the years, never was impressed with what I saw. He's even worse in the playoffs, something the Leafs desperately need help with.

The forward depth has continued to diminish dramatically. The replacements he's added thus far are fringe players that won't make a lick of difference in the playoffs, you know, the only games that truly matter.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs struggle to even make the playoffs. I'm pretty sure we'll be sitting here 25 games in and Murray will be injured, have an .890% and 3.25 GAA, Samsonov will have an .888% and 3.15 GAA. We'll be begging Marner, Matthews, Tavares and Nylander to help outscore out goaltending woes, same thing they did last season due to abysmal goaltending from Campbell, Kallgren and Mrazek.

This what staying status quo with upper management gets you, ladies and gentlemen.

The only grade Dubas deserves is an F for.... F off. Leave, don't come back.

I was told to stop whining about Dubas and the Murray deal this morning. LOL.

So I am being positive.

Magin, Samsonov, Aube-Kubel, Guadette...

This is the worst free agency day in history.

How can leaf fans stand behind this?

These signings only cover the goaltending (God help us), and one 4th line position. Dubas is far from doing something to improve the team.

I don't know if Dubas CAN negotiate a deal for Matthews to stay. Call it a hunch, but I've always thought Matthews always wanted to leave, especially since he only signed a 5 year deal. He's a warm weather boy, one of the best players in the league, and will get paid (as well as having cheaper taxes) no matter where he goes. Why would he want to stay in cold dreary Canada in the winter?

My thoughts exactly. His GF is back in AZ as are his parents. Seems American players don't mind living close to their Mom and Dad and siblings. Unlike so many Canadian players.

I wonder how us Leafs fans will react when the Sens finish higher in the standings than us next year.

That's my prediction.

With the money Kyle used for Gaudette, Aube-Kubel and Malgin they could have added 2.75M to upgrade from Justin Holl in a trade. 2M for Holl + 2.75M=someone better than Holl.

Though you can't quite think about the cap like that unless that Holl replacement going to play multiple forward positions on top of playing defense....
