This we can agree on

He is currently 4th on this team in total points.
11-12 he would have been tied with MDZ for 5th
10-11 he would have been 4th, 1 point behind Cally.
He did that playing on a team that was in the bottom 1/4 of the NHL in Goals For.
Is he gonna be Gabby and have 40 goal seasons? Probably has the same chance as I do.
Because he isn't performing to his 6th overall draft selection doesn't mean he can't be a good player for this team.
Ive also come to the realization that this fanbase will never ever be happy with their 3rd line center anyway.
Maybe if he and Boyle had their ice time switched he could produce more.
The only negative about Brass is that he keeps passing to Boyle
So it wouldn't be completely outrageous to say he may have been dicked around a bit and had some pressure put on him at times? All of the above at some point in his career. This year, mainly 2c/3c
Ahh yes, another misguided shot at Brian Boyle. Maybe Brassard can learn to kill penalties if he wants more ice time.

I don't think his post was that off...BB has had one outlier offensive season so counting on him for offense is probably not a great plan.
I'll just quote you from a prior post...Hes played over 300 NHL games. Hes 28 years old. To totally wipe the slate clean when discussing him as a player is absurd.
And I'm not even a BB hater.
I honestly have zero clue where you're headed with this. Boyle and Brassard are both on the 3rd line. They have recently been playing on the same PP unit. Boyle kills penalties and Brassard does not, so theres your difference in ice time. 3rd liners. Keep it that way.

I was addressing the 2nd part of his post that you responded to that the only thing Brass has done wrong is pass to Boyle.
Gotcha. So we're already at the "Derick Brassard needs to play with better offensive players to break out" argument. Or as I like to call it "The Chris Kreider Theory."
If you're going to call Boyle offensively inept, then you have to recognize that Brassard is defensively inept and not exactly a world beater offensively either. Lets not forget he got some time with Nash in Columbus.
Anyway, they're both 3rd liners right now, where they should be. Im not the one trying to make Derick Brassard a better player than he actually is.

He loves to pass when he is not scoring because he does not want the puck. He needs a lucky goal or two because at this point, he is feeling so much pressure he could explode. This will compound - - squeezing the stick...quarter step behind...don't make a mistake... and dying to pass. He gets in the mode of "please don't give me the puck..."

This made me laugh hard.
I also think Brassard is what he is. Skilled enough to be a 2nd liner, but too inconsistent so he's often a 3rd liner. Part of that is he also seems to play a little shy, so to speak. I'm definitely intrigued to see what he can do after a full Torts camp.
He passed the puck a few times tonight when he should have shot but that last pass was sure a beauty!
Very bad tonight besides that sick pass.
