I'm more perplexed as to why people are assuming Sather is intelligent... because he has not really done one intelligent thing in his tenure here.

Don't pick on words, you know what I meant. Just let's see how long Subban will be with MTL. I don't want to lose Step.

Subban is going to get a long term deal on his next contract. Just like Giroux did. Just like Couture did. Just like Duchene did. Just like Stepan will if he proves that he is worth it. Whether you like it or not, that's how the NHL works.

Trading Gomez for McDonagh is a pretty ****ing intelligent thing to accomplish. So, you're wrong. Sorry. I know it must suck. I've been wrong once. It was awful. Tarred and Feathered. By various moderators here. Sbob still has pictures which I'm occasionally blackmailed with.

If I can't pick on words, what do you expect me to pick on? The potential scent of your keyboard?

Do you know what the difference is between Duchene, Giroux, Couture, and Stepan?

One of them is a nice guy. The others, not so much.

I see you're on board with Sather's unfair tactics. Nice to know what group you represent. I bet you smoke cigars too. Meanie. :(

Do you think Giroux regrets signing a 3 year deal after his ELC? Do you think Couture regrets signing a 2 year bridge deal? These guys proved that they were the real deal and they got paid. Stepan just has to do the same.

I am sure they are absolutely devastated that they were taken advatage of. They just play it nice, esp when they got thier money. Whatever fans are fed with like "prove" and "real deal" is just a PR behind very cruel atmosphere that is out there. That is why to me their new contracts is a honest demonstartion of desire to make up for that on part of their organizations.

Yes, being forced to play for only 3 mil a year is cruel indeed. How ever will he go on?

I know that. I don't like it, never did. It is wrong. So instead of shaking thier heads in disgust like I do, the fans here are jumping on player for a little attempt to stand up to it. Terrible...

You're making the NHL sound like Blood Diamond

He's been an unsuccessful GM but that statement is just silly. Ryan McDonagh for one says hello.

He is good with his RFAs and this is another example. Step deserves a fair bridge deal; somewhere in the 3 - 3.3 range. If Step is asking for more he is asking for too much and if Glen is offering less he is being unfair. Get r done.

I don't even know how to respond to you any more, so I'm just going to stop trying.

Yea but that's 3 mill in NYC... taxed by the state then the city then health care then social security then he has appointments at professional hair designers and he might take up pilates classes with jillian michaels and rumor has it he wants to buy an alpaca farm and he has to get flame decals on his car...

So in reality that 3 million is more like 40,000. I think he's justified in holding out.

At this point, Matt Oates and Stepan is just being stupid. If the reports of Sathers offering $3.2M are true (even if they're not true, it's at least $3M), then this is just greed. 90% of players are paid a lesser amount than what they think they deserve and what they're worth. He's getting offered a contract that's roughly his worth keeping in mind all of the cap circumstances. At some point, it's not about sticking up for yourself in contract negotiations. It's being greedy. As a player, you reserve the right to do whatever you want in UFA but as an RFA to a team, you still have to be mindful of how you're handling yourself as a part of the team and as a part of the locker room. Glen is giving away a lot more than he would normally give away. In fact, Glen is being pretty fair and generous compared to how he usually is with RFAs.

Whether it's Oates that's giving horrible advice and causing Stepan to make these decisions to hold out or if it's Stepan forging ahead on his on accord, my respect for his sensibility as a player and person is slipping.

I mean, how can he spew about being fortunate to be doing something that he loves and being paid so well if he's not accepting $3.0-$3.2M per year at this stage of his career? Instead, he's choosing to remove himself from hockey right now and in a way that will affect the rest of his year, the team's year, and everyone's efforts. Meh. I'm not on Step's side because $3M+ is fair. No other way around it.

Both sides are just being stupid now. The team is missing an important player, and it's going to take a while before the rust comes off if and when Stepan signs. You can give me that this is a business and yadda yadda yadda. You're right. On the other hand, this kind of ******** breeds resentment in the locker room. McDonagh may be his butt buddy, but I wonder how the rest of the team feels about this.

I think Stepan is being a little greedy. He will make at least 6 million over 2 years which is much more than what he was earning. he will have a chnace to make even more. Take the bridge deal and get into camp

AV should throw him on the third line for a bit. The other guys deserve to get a shot at 1C and 2C because they've had a good effort in TC and in the PS.

Seriously though is Stepan being "greedy" or are they just trying to figure who is gonna be a Ranger on October 1st and who isn't. I'm not even a little worried about this.

OMG just heard from Derek's girlfriend's friend's cousin that he wants Minny to offersheet him so he can center Parise!!! 1! 1

Brassard just exudes energy. With guys like Stepan or Richards or Nash, you can tell their game comes and goes depending on their mentality. Brassard doesn't think about that stuff and his source of energy is the love for the game and being the best that he can in a simple way. Like a old fashion watermill. So long as there's a constant flow of water, he'll put forth. His energy is exactly what this team needs so bad. AV is going to make Brassard a golden boy because of it.
