Very gifted kid but kinda dumb/lazy with and without the puck. Great tools, shot selection and nose for the net do overcome lack of IQ, we just gotta accept he's a scoring Poolparty without the D and forecheck. Could be package bait for Dubois this summer, the kind of big player Winnipeg signs long term and cheap.

I think it would take more than a good final stretch to get his trade value up.

But we have a lot of one dimensional wingers. So it would be good to use some as trade bait.

I actually like Gurianov, and I don’t mind that he’s an offensive minded player that thinks goals goals goals.

He’s already doubled his goal production from his Dallas days and in 1/4 of the games.

Seems he’s found his mojo and could be found money.

I’d offer him a 2yr show me deal, 3.25m$ per and see where that goes.

Slaf-Dach-Anderson
Caufield-Suzuki-Gurianov

Now there’s a top 6 i believe can put up some numbers

I don’t even want to imagine adding Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson/Michkov to that mix….my god

Agreed but I doubt they'd have to go that high.

I want him and Andy on the 3rd line together, we'll call it big speed.

I am not sure at all that Slaf can crack the top six next season, yet. Farrell has more chances to do it..... Or Dubois !!!

Even better

What are you thinking….2.5m$ range??
Yeah over 2 years.

His QO is 2.9M...there's no way the Habs are giving him that, so they'll decline to match his QO (which will cause Habs fans to panic for a few days) and then they'll come to agreement for 2 years @ 2.5-2.7M.

Being a free agent probably isn't too attractive to him given his last 2 years, so some security and opportunity to reset his market before he becomes a free agent makes sense for him.

And for the Habs, it's a low risk/cheap deal.

That's how I see it anyway...kind of similar to what happened with Rem Pitlick this past summer.

Yeah Ibthink he could be good.

I'm not sure it would work with Caufield. But it's worth a try. I'd like to try Gurianov opposite Farrell or Slaf, though I think Slaf would fit better with Suzuki and Caufield. And I like Anderson with RHP:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Farrell - Dach - Gurianov
RHP - _______ - Anderson
Heineman/Richard - Evan's/Belzile - Ylonen

And, I'd like to see if Richard can score goals like he scored last night more often.

And with Barron back there you have 2 guys for him to hit with the stretch pass a la Markov to Patches.

If Slaf, Anderson and Gurianov are all part of our top 6 next year, we're not making the playoffs.

Agree….but I’m banking on lots of goals.

our time will be 3yrs down the road, that’s when I’m expecting us to compete for deep playoff runs

I think they could be parts of a good top 9. We need a healthy Monahan level 3c though:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Farrell - Dach - Gurianov
RHP - Monahan - Anderson
Richard - Evan's - Ylonen
Belzile, Pez

Ver, very slim chances to see Monahan in a Habs jersey ever again. Dvorak, Armia and Hoffman are all under contract for one or more seasons. They won't disapper in thin air. Pezzetta and Belzile have shown enough to be on the bottom line or forward #13.

True on all points.

But, Belzile and Pez can start as 13th and 14th forwards. Are Belzile and Pez ahead of Richard? Sure a case can be made. But that goal last night by Richard??? He's like Byron, he gets breakaways amd can change a game out of nowhere...

Chances are Dvo starts at 3c as Monahan won't be healthy and we won't be able to acquire Dubois or another C at least as good as Monahan. I'd actually rather see Dvo on the wing. But that's a while other conversation...

There may be creative ways to move out Gallagher, Armia, and Hoffman. Trade Hoffman with 50% retained for future considerations. Gallagher goes on LTIR a la Price and Weber, but with an offer to join management for the duration of his contract. Time for him to prepare for his career after being a player. Armia sent to Laval or traded for a worse contract that is sent to Laval. Bada bing, bada boom...

Oof. Define good. That lineup doesn't begin to compare to the good ones in the East.

3 more years before we have a shot at really competing.

It's too difficult to guess on. Lots of questions but even heading into this season, some expected a sure shot bottom 5 pick or even bottom 3 but we performed well. Without the injuries, this team might have a 10-15 range pick which would be close to being a bubble playoff team.

* Does Suzuki and Caufield improve even more next season?
* Does Dach take another step forward?
* Does Anderson maintain his level of play we have seen in 2023 so far?
* Do we trade for Dubois?
* How much better is Slaf?
* Do Allen and Monty improve even more with a better team in front of them?
* What about the guys on D? Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Barron.
