And yet...one of the best goal scorers in the league. Shitty year playing with a rookie and a banged up winger and he gets 27.

He's not desperate lol. He can wait
Limiting his prospects and possible cash pay out to a single team (childhood/hometown team) is very desperate. He's already got the golden brick road paved out in his mind but problem is, life rarely treads down that road. May be a tough pill to swallow but 'one year from free agency' is not 'free agency'. He still has a full year to play out before he has the chance to bow down and sniff Stevie Y's toes. Dude is completely out of his league at this point and I wouldnt be suprised if it costs him real money in the end

Maybe, maybe not.

I bet he has one hell of a year this upcoming year and writes his own ticket.
Maybe it's not Detroit, maybe it is, but a perennial top goal scorer in the league will get paid.

Debrincat hasn’t even requested a trade, it’s the Sens that are pushing for it to try and maximize value. All he’s done is indicate which teams he is willing to sign long term with. Just so happens only one of those teams is interested in acquiring him right now. What exactly has he done that you disapprove of?

I've got a hunch that it goes a little past that at this point. Guy has one place in mind but is still expecting 'free agent' money from them. You either sign a secured contact now in a sign-and-trade or take the gamble of playing the year out where ever and dealing whatever plays out then.

A torn ACL in training camp is all it takes for an 8.5×8 sign and trade with your hometown team to turn into a 6×1 try out with a Columbus or Minnesota.

Well, let's not forget the Summer of Dorian-ers. Debrincat was definitely part of it.

You clearly did not understand the tongue in cheek nature of "the Summer of Pierre".

Most Sens fans think Dorion is a tool. Last summer when he was making big moves, some good some bad, it was at least interesting.

Good news is his days are numbered.

You'd think Yzerman was still running Tampa Bay with the way some Wings fans are strutting about with puffed out chests in this thread. You do see the roster you have on paper right? Debrincat isn't a luxury here - he's a need. Plain and simple. It's like a homeless guy scoffing at a new pair of shoes because they don't match the tattered slacks smh.

Now pay up
You ought to try stand up on open mic night…You’re a hoot!

Every trade is its own trade these days, because of the cap. Ottawa and Chicago’s trade last year has no bearing on what happens with Debrincat now. That’s just where we are in today’s market.

It used to be, a 30 goal scorer would get a 1st, a prospect/young player and a rostered player. Like Shanahan traded to Detroit for a 1st, Primeau and Coffey. That was expected almost.

Today, who knows…. Like really, nobody does. Hell, I was told multiple things today from an active dman evaluator, who said he’s heard Detroit is doing evaluations on a few different Dmen from the Senators, and that that Philly and Calgary have been snooping around, gathering data on Detroit prospects, especially a couple of dmen. So who knows. This deal could be dead, or both teams are just crossing T’s. Maybe Detroit is doing another deal first. Maybe they’re after Konecny too. He’s from London. He’s also signed for two more years at $5.5, I think it is.

I think the deal likely still happens, but we shall see.

To me the fairest deal would be Berggren and a 1st rounder. Somehow I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen though.

notice chicago now sens trying to move him . reason being is a 5'7'' 165lb hockey player can not play a complete game
The Sens ideally want him under a decent contract with term. They’re not trying to move him because of the completeness of his game, they’re trying to move him because if they don’t move him this summer and he doesn’t budge on his demands then he stands to walk away next summer, and they’d rather get some value than none.

DbC is a complete player. Not going to let anyone say otherwise. He does everything. Even surprises big boys with some feisty hits.

That top line RW spot on the Sens should be his.
Yup. And can fight too. Just his contract status reduces his trade value. Not too sure if the Sens would prefer players or picks in return? I guess they want guys who can help them right now? They could get picks and use them to trade for players too?

It should have been his and it should have been his, the entire last season.

It was pretty easy to tell after few games that Sens HC had bo idea what kind of player he got. Probably never seen him play.

Problem is he is a right shooting LW … has never played RW in the NHL. In CHI the RW was Kane, in OTT the RW was Batherson on his line. The Sens topline LW is Brady – end of story

He’s not, and Giroux is much better for that line than DBC would be, and he doesn’t even play right wing with the Sens.

Hard to have a spot when you don’t even play the position.

I thought a few Chicago fans mentioned in this thread that DbC actually prefers RW?

Giroux is also a decade older.

Yeh it was pretty egregious.

He is a decade older, still the better player right now and better fit for the top line.

Patrick Kane was the RW for the Hawks, not DBC. If he prefers the right, he should make the switch because he’s only played the left.

Top line already has 2 shooters in Tkachuk and Stutzle, last thing it needs is another shooter.

So Sens fans would rather have who out of Fabbri , Kubalik or Valeno off the Wings roster ?…. I imagine they are available

I assume Detroit is offering their later 1st then some other picks

Not wanting to give up good prospects. Which is holding things up

8 yr deal x8?

I wonder if the Kraken are legitimately interested then the sens could take Schwartz off of their hands. Freeing up cap.

Getting debrincat and shedding Schwartz would lead to a first round pick and a B level prospect no?

Even if it’s a rental for a year where you can work him for an extension or dish him at the deadline.

Thoughts Krakeners? Not red wings fans. I know cats value is basically a 3rd. But sometimes other teams want a player too.
