Ive seen Bratt’s name mentioned in other threads.

If devils fans do want to move on from him then maybe a shakeup trade for Cat? Even the trade out with picks or players?

I don’t think the Sens should go for picks in this deal. Try to get a similar caliber player back if possible and even add depending on how much

I feel like if they move on from Bratt, it shouldn't be for an even smaller, softer player.

Cat would look awfully good in Anaheim with their current top 6 + Fantilli.

Caulfield, Bratt, DeBrincat all good players surviving in a big boy game!Be careful of what you offer in relationship due length of career expectations!Little guys get hurt frequently and injuries mount quickly at their size!

We have way too many wingers and we don't want to give up Askarov/Saros. DeBrincat doesn't make sense unless Duchene or Tomasino is coming back.
This exactly. Also, if it's not Duchene going back, that's going to be something like $25M tied up in 3 wingers, which doesn't exactly seem a recipe for success when our center depth is currently Parsinnen, Novak, Glass, Sissons.

Caufield also had 4 yrs of team control, not 1 yr from UFA.

yes I think Caufield was overpaid too given his one dimensionality.

Perhaps but the team felt that was the going rate.

Another factor is inflation. If it refuses to die down, you are likely looking at 125M cap in 5 years. Deals signed today will effectively be at a 25%+ discount. Even next year its seems inevitable the cap will be 95 million or so. That alone discounts todays deals by 12%.

Its not so much a dollar value, but a percentage of cap value.

I'd trade for Tomasino Edm 1st one of the 2nds and maybe some other small pick. Honestly the sens don't need to move the moon to get that Saros caliber goalie ro be good.

Even then that's a lot to give up for a winger upgrade looking for an expensive contract when our two biggest concerns are defense and center.

I'd do Tomasino and Edmonton's 1st at absolute most and that's if we want to start competing now instead of going for a rebuild. Even then I'd rather keep the 1st and see if we can lower it to a 2nd.

He would look really good in a Wings jersey, but I dont see a trade between the two that jumps off the page to me.

Makes so much sense
I don't see Cat re-signing in Winnipeg, but if Dubois willing to sign in Ottawa I guess a three-way could get it done, but the Sens already have Stutzle-Norris-Pinto down the middle and Dubois doesn't seem keen on playing wing.

Kings gave up Faber (former 2nd round defensive prospect) and what became the #19 for Fiala in a similar situation (Fiala wasn't due a $9M QO). I guess Tomasino + Edm 1st isn't that far, but like you say this isn't a position we have major need in and not sure how I feel like dumping that much value into wing.

Devils fans don’t want to trade Bratt . We want him to sign a fair contract . But this will be the 3rd time he and his agent have played hardball . If a fair contract length and price cannot be negotiated , then trade his ass .
If NJ wants to have a long contention window , then they cannnot overpay fir a player like Bratt . Devils wouod be better off saving cap room and signing someone like Bertuzzi than overpaying on Bratt . But if it’s even a fair deal , then Deviks fans want to keep him . And not at the cost of potentially not being able to sign Meier . That will never happen though where if forced to pick between the two , Meier is the needed more and to me is the better player to keep .
The Vat might be a possible player to readers Bratt for ?

As a Wings fan, I am insanely high on Kasper, he fills a positional need, is bigger, scrappier, etc etc etc.
Would Detroit consider Kasper for PLD straight up? PLD is only 24 years old, plays a scrappier game and probably makes them a playoff team while making Copp more versatile
