Even then that's a lot to give up for a winger upgrade looking for an expensive contract when our two biggest concerns are defense and center.

I'd do Tomasino and Edmonton's 1st at absolute most and that's if we want to start competing now instead of going for a rebuild. Even then I'd rather keep the 1st and see if we can lower it to a 2nd.

Tomasino, EDM 1st, one of your thirds for Debrincat and one of JBD/Thomson?

wings will get him for 17OA and Cross Hanas/similar level FWD prospect/player or bostons 1st next year (could be lottery pick if they suck) and Ottawa will be happy to recoup assets and use the cap on other players (goalie/gritty winger - Varlomov + Killorn or Barbashev?)
Wings would be exponentially better off keeping 17 and whatever else and then signing Varlamov and Barbashev themselves.

Would Detroit consider Kasper for PLD straight up? PLD is only 24 years old, plays a scrappier game and probably makes them a playoff team while making Copp more versatile
No. Kasper is 19 and tracking to be a heavier (play style wise) Larkin.

Why would Ullmark want to go to Ottawa, he has a NMC. I'd easily take Swayman as the main piece, but that return would require ADB to sign long term in boston and I'm not sure thats in the cards.
Why wouldn’t he? Good young team in the rise. Boston is a good old team starting their decline. Maybe Ottawa is on his list of teams maybe not. We just don’t know. I’ll add that both trades mine and yours would require a signed extension otherwise that + is a lot greater

I think Nashville makes sense for a bunch of reasons, but none include Saros leaving.

1. Trotz doesn't want to rebuild but doesn't want to sell the farm either.

2. They barely missed the playoffs but now have a new coach, a new GM who used to be an elite coach, and a solid core in place with some young pieces improving. They may end up with the best goalie duo in Saros/Askarov, one of the best Dmen in the league, and great Top 6 especially if the Cat is in there.

3. They have a whack ton of picks. They have 2 1sts in this draft - 15th overall and 24th overall, in addition to 2 1sts in 2025 and a whack ton of 2nds. Lots of draft capital to play with for a non-rebuilding team.

4. They have the money and space to sign ADB to an 8x8.5M extension, where he will be there for his prime years 25-33 years old.

5. Nashville is a dope city to live and play in, way better than Ottawa, and only a couple of states away from Michigan and Illinois where all of their family and friends are.

I think if ADB agrees to sign long term in NSH before a trade, a fair trade would be:

DeBrincat (signed 8x8.5)
Brannstrom (RFA ~$1.2M)

for

2023 NSH 1st (15th)
2023 EDM 1st (24th)
Meh prospect/2nd?

Ottawa uses the picks and other prospects to pry Hart+Konecny out of Philly.

We're not trading both of our 1sts in a draft we're hosting for a winger we don't need.
Again, Nashville has Forsberg, Duchene, Tomasino, Evangelista, Kemell with Parssinen and Novak capable of playing wing. We have a huge hole on defense and center. Wing is the last position we need aside from goalie.

DeBrincat is an upgrade over Tomasino and Duchene, but that's way down the list of our worries.

FWIW, Sens were very high on Kasper.

Would be pretty funny if Debrincat was traded for Kasper, considering they could have just drafted him.

Yeah I don't think it was a coincidence that he was drafted by the 67s prior to the pick being traded.

Yeah that ain't happening. Trotz has already stated he isn't concerned with next season and that we are in a " restart ". For whatever reason he and Poile just refuse to use the term everyone else does

kasper just aint going to be traded. they see him as larkin's replacement with how they talk about him.

I am high on him too, but I've literally only seen 1 game he has played in NHL and a bunch of highlights that only show the good, never the bad obviously.

@OgeeOgelthorpe would be able to chime in a lot better about him. I think @Frk It probably too.

How about NYR ?

Lafreniere + #23 + Cap dumb (Goodrow/Kreider ? )
For
Debrincat
kreider is a cap dump??

Sign me up and the red wings my god.

well 32 years old with 4 years at 6.5 mil ,
I am guessing they would rather sign Debricat/Kane/Tarasenko then Kreider,
So they need the cap space , who else you think could be traded for Cap reason with NYR ?

panarin, goodrow, or trouba tbh. Kreider seems to be the heart of the team. Panarin is wildly overpaid so nyr would probably have to retain some (how much idk, just spit ballin' here) and Trouba just because he has 9.5 mil tbh.

Getting rid of any of the players mentioned above would almost be catastrophic to nyr for the next few years anyways. I just don't see how they would be able to be the same "rangers" of the past few years without those guys.

If anything, trade panarin at some type of retention, not sure how you can get debrincat if he wants his 8mil, then if you want to resign vlad/kane/miller/laf, then you gotta hope they take some discounts.

If your able to get panarin's full cap hit taken off, and as long as you are okay with a minimal return based off of no retention obviously, then that would do wonders when vlad/miller/kane would take smaller deals to stay in rangers (pure speculation from my part on their wants), but i don't think it would be a massively smaller contracts, maybe haircuts instead of like 25% off discount.

Caps please…

To Washington: Alex Debrincat + 2023 1st (12th OA)*
To Arizona: Anthony Mantha + 2023 1st (8th OA) + Connor McMichael + Lassi Thomson
To Ottawa: Lawson Crouse

*Originally Ottawa's 1st rounder that was traded to Arizona for Chychrun

Washington moves down 4 spots in the draft but adds Debrincat and dumps Mantha
Arizona moves up 4 spots in the draft, gets two prospects that can play for them next year, and picks up Mantha who they can flip again at next year's deadline for more picks
Ottawa adds Crouse to replace Debrincat

Calgary, Islanders, Washington and Pittsburgh need to be in on this.

Teams that need some scoring on the wing and pure offensive talent should be calling Ottawa. Debrincat is a really good scoring talent. I believe he’s top 10 in goals the last 3-4 seasons combined.
I’d offer Holmstrom + from the isles. Probably would be better offers. Also depends on the contract DeBrincat wants. He’s a 2 time 40 goal scorer and proven sniper when healthy. He’s still way on the right side of 30 as well.
