I think the market for DeBrincat is going to be extremely limited, which means somebody is going to get this guy for almost nothing. Like depth winger + two 2nd round picks cheap.

From a Boston perspective I think he’s priced out at that price. I was thinking something along the lines and Ullmark plus Hall for Alex +. But I don’t think it makes sense if he’s between 8 and 9.
Why would Ullmark want to go to Ottawa, he has a NMC. I'd easily take Swayman as the main piece, but that return would require ADB to sign long term in boston and I'm not sure thats in the cards.

Heck no. Thats two firsts. Unlikely a team is paying that in the summer.

They pretty much can, it seems that type of behaviour is currently accepted at the political level. Its the bureaucratic level where its really a big no-no and the consequences are significantly more severe.
You are a sens fan so getting 2 late 1sts for him would not make u guys hsppy

Don't get greedy, we all know it'll be the NYI pick going to OTT if the Cat is DET bound.

Don't try to tell me Hronek at the deadline is worth more than DeBrincat signed for 8 years lol

What do you mean here?

I assume Hronek will sign with Vancouver equally the same as any Debrincat signing. Sort of a moot point.

But yes.. Debrincat is better

trading him for pure picks/ prospects is very limited before even factoring in his cap hit and where he is in pecking order of players who could be UFAs next summer.

ottawa could QO and sign him to say a $9M contract and trade him with a third team at deadline getting him doen to around $2.5M cap hit and get some return.

it’s more likely going to be a cap neutral type of trade Where 1+2 players totaling around $7M re sent back.

More likely we'd take him to arb to knock off 0.5-1m from his 9m QO than sign it as is to make him more tradable. We'd also be prioritizing the teams on his preferred list of destinations so an extension can be arranged as part of the trade which will return a better package. He needs to be traded this summer, waiting until the deadline would be a disaster for our team that will hurt our chances getting into the playoffs assuming we'd still be a bubble team trying to secure a wild spot. Making the post season is a priority now and trading him that late will would hurt our chances, would be really dumb if we wait until then.

The prospective new owner must be furious with Dorion. How short sighted can someone be, imagine making that original deal without a contract extension even talked about. What an idiot. Cant wait until he is gone. Never seen a GM survive so many terrible decisions in my life. Cant wait to see how he screws this up even more trying to save his job.

The only deal that I can see happening is an extended Debrincat to Carolina for Teravainen + some futures. Just brutal for the sens as Teravainen probably walks at the end of his deal too. Doesnt address how soft the sens are up front either, just makes them more soft.

Just saying that Bos 1st is 28th overall - that can't be the best piece in a DeBrincat trade, especially if he is staying in the division.

It will cost DET at least the NYI 1st plus a couple of assets worth early to mid 2nds to get ADB.

I still like the base of DeBrincat for 17th+43rd+Kubalik.

Fabbri + Van&STL 2nds sounds like your typical Yzerman move.
Rather just keep him and trade him at the deadline then. No way they are going to take a deal like that not even dorion is that dumb.

f*** that.

19yo non-stop motor center for a UFA to be? No shot.

Maybe just the #43 for the honor of overpaying a 5'5" shooter.
You'd have to think that something like that only happens if he has an extension. A bad contract would likely go the other way too.

That isn't really sweetening the pot any.

Doesn't really matter. I'd much rather have Kasper from 19 on than DeBrincat from 25 on.
Well your personal opinion is fair we all have them. But an extended Debrincat has good value. For a player that has not played a game that wasnt a sure fire top 3 pick its not out of the question. But anyways i digress i doubt it happens as well. I dont think Dorion has the ability to find a team that is going to get an extension done because I dont think that Debrincat has ever had any intention of not being a UFA. Sens are going to set their team back for years based on this deal. Another Dorion blunder.

That depends entirely on the AAV of said extension.

Kasper has played a game. He was a top 10 pick last summer and if anything has improved his position since then. He's only a handful of months older than Leo Carlsson and only scored a couple less points over in Sweden this past year.

Would make me happy. Its not like this situation was not readily apparent when we traded last summer we knew it was a risk. Yes we have to move on, my only ocncern is moving on at any cost. I'd sooner hang on and take the cap space into free agency next year than to trade for a pittance. Mid to late first is what I'd expect back, or a signed/cost controlled serviceable third line winger.
