LOL. Gotta hate someone I guess.

If anyone's getting overrated, it's Burger. I was surprised when someone told me he's close to 200 now, because he still plays like he weighs 150 soaking wet. 20 hits for the season, those are Cholo stats. Even Zadina beat him in 30 games.

Looking at the team's hit stats, it's really pathetic. Click and sort by hits. This team is so soft.
Shocked to see he is listed at 194 lbs. I was assuming he would max out at the same weight Nyquist did of 185 lbs.

Makes me feel a little bit about him being in our top 9 size-wise, although only if he actually uses that weight effectively.

Berggren better step up his game, the Wings are becoming a powerhouse and there won't be room for Kubalik clones.

I'm not saying you're wrong. You're perfectly entitled to your opinion. But what leads you too the conclusion that Berggren is likely to score in that range but Kasper is not?
Berggren I think is a bit of a late bloomer due to the injuries early in his career post draft. I think he is probably the most natural playmaker currently on the team. He also has a good PP type of game which helps point wise. With that said he could also totally flame out of the NHL.

Kasper is going to be a two way center and I'm not sure what we'll see from him on the PP which is a major point driver. But he is still super young and I want to see how he does in the AHL. He may totally turn on the offensive game over here as the SEL is a notoriously hard for young players and defensive as a league. With that said I think he almost a lock as a long term nhler but if he ends up behind Larkin we could see some repressed numbers.

Ottawa walking away with a decent deal depends on what they do with DBCs cap space.

In the short term Kubalik + say Tarasenko could be a better fit than DBC. Long term it is a hit but I think they could be fine next year if they spend wisely.

Don't think they can add Tarasenko. They used the cap space for Korpisalo on goal and for Kubalik.

Only 18 guys signed and 5M of cap space. Have to sign RFA Pinto and another player.

Tarasenko is not going there for 3M.

Berggren is going to be good. He played fantastic hockey and then he succumbed to the grind of a long NHL season. I'm hoping he got his sophomore slump out of the way in the second half of his first season. He'll get back to energized hockey and he seems apt to learn and he's got a solid foundation of vision, IQ, and creativity that he can build on.

I worry more about Raymond than I do Berggren.

Yeah, I think they'd have to buy out Joseph and/or make another trade to afford Tarasenko.

And neither Tarasenko nor Giroux really fit their timeline. It'll be interesting to see what they do over the next few years.

Why? Raymond has a better foundation of vision, IQ, and creativity than Berggren does. And the flashes he showed in his first season were of a Marner/Kane level playmaker. Then he hit a wall for about a season and a bit. He's also 2 years younger.

Ray rarely carries the puck, and only on open ice. Both players are 10 ply, Ray gets knocked down way too easily. Both players need to take the next step if this is going to be a playoff team, because Copp and Compher aren't going to drive the play. Imagine a playoff series with a bunch of kids that only throw 20 - 30 hits a season, Tkachuk threw that many hits in just the first series against Boston.

That's why Tkachuk at $9.5M is a bargain compared to DeBrincat at $7.875, but beggars can't be choosers.

I really thought that this trade was just a roomer. I am pretty impressed with the insiders that tracked this trade

At first I was pretty skeptical of his size but I was surprised to learn Rocket Richard was 5'7", it's also a different faster game now. To put it in perspective and google can be trusted Alex is tied for 6th shortest player in the history of the NHL.

I think you are overrating Raymond. Loses puck battles, doesn't go the hard parts of the ice enough. Not strong enough. plays too much on the outside.

Yes, this happened all last year. Raymond’s first 30 games in the NHL were a different story. Berggren also hit a wall and we think he’ll overcome it, but Raymond who is younger and has shown more at lower levels can’t?

Yeah it's easy to forget that Raymond is still the youngest regular roster player at 21.

He had one down year playing with 2nd liners and people forget just how good he is. Top 15-20 goal scorer in the league. He really has had 3 40 goal seasons if you extrapolate the covid year.

Honestly, his center wasnt even second line quality most of the year and he still pulled that season off. Sens fans are bitching that he didnt fit in or look good now that hes traded, but in a season with Pinto, where he "doesnt look good" or "fit in" he pulled off almost 30 goals and 70 points.

Meh not getting excited over a 5'7 forward getting knocked around in the playoffs in 3 yrs

Big step in the right direction will be when kasper, danielson, edvinsson mazur etc... show up and are big time players

I will say this about the trade for not being crazy about it

Least berggren and soderblom are still around for now

Did you miss us that much Captain Bob?

Well, I guess he'll do OK with Copp or Compher then.

Raymond’s 21 years old and was the only true first line player other than Larkin who stayed healthy last year. He has 80+ point potential, IMO.

It's a little strange how this kid could only legally drink this March, scores 57 and 45 in his first two seasons, but he's already being wrote off as nothing more than an adequate 2nd line player.

For Raymond to accomplish this on such an incomplete roster his first two seasons is genuinely impressive, and unless you're one of the most gloomy folks around, there's zero reason to think as he gets more help around him (a 40 goal sniper should help), that the numbers won't continue to grow.
