Act II: The Redemption Arc begins... he strategized this all along, Krav does have a flare for the dramatic. He's meticulously strategized every aspect of his career, a Machiavellian genius who people won't fully "get" until many years in the future. Just wait until advanced stats become advanced enough to show what truly made him so special. Anyways, next stop.. the Conn Smythe.

We spent days and weeks after the McDonagh/Miller trade twisting ourselves in to pretzels trying to make sense of it. “Well if you consider it Miller for Namestnikov, and carry the 1…”
I remember the second I read we had thrown Miller in the deal I convinced myself we were getting one of Sergachev/Cirelli/Point
f*** what a bummer that night was

Andrew Copp. The Rangers sign him to a six year extension worth $4.5M-$5M. The Rangers have their center to replace Ryan Strome. He was a group II free agent last summer. Winnipeg signed him to a one year extension. Minnesota has Ryan Hartman and Fredrik Gauthier at center. Boston has Erik Huala behind Patrice Bergeron. It's hard to find that big center option. The Rangers sign Copp to line up behind Mika Zibanejad. Chris Drury tried sign Phillip Danault last summer. That signing would have meant the end of Ryan Strome as a Rangers beyond this seaon. Copp is good on draws. The Rangers need a left handed shooting center who can win face-offs.

Feel like Copp wants to get paid, the Jets really didn’t sell this week outside of him, and they brought back Appleton and got Sanford.

I imagine they know what his ask was if they wanted to get him signed to an extension.

It’s hard to imagine him only getting the Blake Coleman contract, especially if he has a good run for the Rangers.

Honestly Chytil feels like the square peg right now

I could make a very strong shut down third line with Goodrow Copp Kakko right now

Motte Rooney Reaves is an upgraded fourth line.

Think Chytil with Vatrano and Copp is a really intriguing third line that can score quite a bit.

50/50 odds he displaces Strome for me at this point. He hasn't been a C for the Jets and he's not the ideal 2C but quite frankly, neither is Strome.

I like Copp as a third line center not a second line center. And I hate not getting anything for Strome.

I still can't make sense of it. Adding Miller to a deal that had just B level prospects coming back still f***ing baffles me.

He's a 2nd tier/2nd line/bootleg Bergeron.

You don't need studs but guys that can fill in where needed. Bergeron is the godfather. Please before people think I'm comparing his talents to Bergeron, relax. We also saw it with Danault last season and Hartman this season.

I think he's a nice fit if the price is right.

Getting a stud 2C is out of the question, unless we draft and develop him. We can't afford the cap hit that goes along with it

:( why couldn't he just shut up and stay in Hartford?

Selfish. Too good for the AHL. Chytil is European and had no issues going up and down despite what fans think of him now. He never complained or requested a trade. I hope we let him rot in the KHL until he changes his attitude then he deserves to be traded.

CCK is not a good idea. The Rangers have the pieces of a (theoretical) top level, playoff style, shutdown line staring right in the face at them. I’m not going to shut the door on that just to accommodate Chytil, who quite frankly has not deserved it. If they want to give Chytil a shot there while Kakko is hurt, sure why not. But last that? I’m not changing that up unless Chytil has shown a lot more than he has so far.
If you want a shutdown line it should be Motte-Goodrow-Hunt. I want a 3rd line that can tilt the ice as well as produce and Copp-Chytil-Kakko has the ability to do that.

If it is Pitt in round 1, I really think the Rangers can now effectively wear down their defense. I'm not sold on their defense besides Letang and Dumoulin. You've got 3rd and 4th liners that will bang and grind. Jarry isn't anything special either and has playoff demons.

I can totally see this roster going to the conference final. The elite talent is supplemented by the depth needed to contend. This team has skeleton crewed the 3rd and 4th lines since opening night. Not anymore.

Well we don’t have to worry about fitting everyone in right now. Have a few weeks for that and these things seem to work themselves out usually

So for now you most likely play Copp with Strome or Chytil and your 4th line is probably Motte Mckegg Reaves.

Hunt and Brodzinski come out

Let the cream rise to the top.

Want to play? earn it.

My lineup would look different though Motte and Copp are excellent PKers. McKegg is useless now. Brodz speed adds an element we need, paired with Motte they can drag around Reavo or have a true energy line with Hunt.

Kreids Zibs Laffy
Panarin Strome Vatrano
Goodrow Copp Chytil
Motte Brodz Hunt/Reaves

It’s amazing the parade for the penguins today on tv when they’ve got our exact record and a goalie who has imploded in the playoffs going up against a hart candidate goaltender and deadly powerplay. Now the team is very deep and can really wear you down.

We’re going to be a tough out. A real tough out

He couldn't win a spot when his only competition was Gauthier but he's going to break this post deadline lineup?

I think our blue line has bigger question marks than Pittsburgh's tbh. That said, we have Igor.

Gotta say, after this deadline and the last three games, I'm starting to really feel this team. Were not Colorado/Calgary/Florida but we're right there in that next tier and the playoffs are where a team proves their worth anyway!
