GDT: DEADLINE DAAYYYYYYYY

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
If you want a shutdown line it should be Motte-Goodrow-Hunt. I want a 3rd line that can tilt the ice as well as produce and Copp-Chytil-Kakko has the ability to do that.

This is what I want.

At the very least, I'm confident that those lines can hold the fort and create a stalemate 5v5.

With our goalie and PP, I'll take that. It'd be splendid if the top 6 could start pulling their weight too. We haven't had Zibanejad and Panarin going at the same time at any point this year which is crazy to me.

All it really takes is Panarin deciding that he wants to be Panarin again and this team becomes a problem for anyone in May.

It was close to happening last summer with Eichel.
No, it wasn't.

Giving a lot of assets for Eichel and then spending $10M against the cap does not get you what you want. It just creates the same problem with different players.

The depth of the forward group is actually good now if we just don't play the total scrubs like Reaves, McKegg, and Brodzinski. In particular Reaves and McKegg.
Rangers lost a 1-0 game in Pittsburgh with Reaves, McKegg, Barron, Hunt, Rooney, and Gauthier. Goodrow was playing with Rooney and Reaves as a 3rd line.

And on top of that, they didn't get caved in and the Pens pretty much had their team minus Zucker.

That team does not scare me at all.

Bunch of salty f***s on the main board over the Copp trade. Acting like we gave up the entire farm in what was a fair deal.
It's most likely 2 2nds and Barron. We literally have no more room for prospects. We have top prospects that can't break into the NHL roster.

If by chance we get to the Conference Finals.... I believe we're good enough for the Cup. Getting to the Cup Finals and facing Calgary frightens me. I like Calgary but I'm hoping they lose for that reason. STL and Minnesota could be issues as well. We wilted against Minnesota twice.

but getting back on point... I couldn't care less what other people think. We still have a deeper farm than their team and have the better NHL team.

I'm actually hoping they use Copp on line 2, and i cant see why they wouldnt, they spent a lot to get him, he's a possible Strome replacement so put him on with Panarin and Strome to see if theres something there between him and Panarin. Vatrano on the 3rd line with maybe Chytil and Motte looks alright too.

Reaves will be playing against more physical teams. But now you have the option to supplant him with speed; Hunt, Gauthier, Brodzinski against teams like Pitt, Car, FLA, etc.

To be fair Barron was insanely overrated on here, I've always said he's such a nothing player. If I didn't know any better I would've thought he was just some AHL journeyman like McKegg. He's not special at all imo

Rangers didn't get up any of their top prospects (and arguably not even in their top 10), any of their top young players (Laff/Kakko/Miller/Chytil/Schneider) and keeping at least 1 of their 3 second round picks over the next two seasons and at worst lose 1 first (while keeping 2 seconds in the next 2 years).

They got incredibly deeper and with their play this season can go head to head with any team. They already have the #2 power play in the league and upgraded folks that can PK.

Add in the best goalie in the league who could steal a series.

Completely different groups now... on both sides.

I'm not understanding all the love for Minnesota's moves though. I felt like they were a mixed bag. I like the Middleton addition and Jost was a decent risk to take but MAF is pretty cooked and Deslauriers sucks.

Kaprizov and his line got completely shat on in the playoffs last year. It's not a huge sample size but they were completely obliterated. That can't happen for them again.

I think, like us, Minnesota made enough moves in the right places to keep pace with where they're at in the standings after the favorites all beefed up big time. Re: MAF--he's a X-factor. He might be cooked, but he was decidedly not cooked not long ago and he'll be behind Minnesota's defense rather than Chicago's which might as well be playing a different sport.

Minnesota was desperate. It's this year or in 4 years.

Their 3rd line has somehow shutdown our entire team twice. I don't think they'll beat Calgary or Colorado though.

Gotta think in the short term we're looking at:

Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere
Panarin-Strome-Vatrano
Copp-Chytil-Goodrow (switch Copp and Chytil if you must)
Hunt-Motte-Reaves

I'm not questioning why they did it, I'm just questioning how good the moves actually were in their totality.

I can see them giving Colorado trouble, but I'm not so sure they get by St Louis. They can grind really well too.
