You could.

Kakko and Chytil have always worked though. Chytil gets a bad rep here for some reason, but hes worked pretty well with a few of our guys.

I'd go Copp-Chytil-Kakko (Copp can take draws)

With Motte-Goodrow-Hunt

Reaves and Rooney as the extras. Reaves has a tough time keeping up and Rooney has just flat out sucked since November.
Was thinking the same thing.
I like the shoot first vatrano with PS
CCK would be a very good line
I actually like johhny B for the 4th line with good and motte but i know it wont be him
:/

A waste? Not if it helps the team learn playoff hockey.
LOL...I tend to think we will get our share of learning playoff hockey experience in the next 3 seasons before we parade any hardware around MSG ice unless Laf and Miller and KK take that next step and we find the money to keep guys around . Copp and his concussion issues are a concern . But....sometimes you have to take a bit of a wee jump /leap of faith to make it interesting.

You really think we're getting a top 6 player back for a malcontent?

You're too quick, I edited my post.

Bottom line, I'm not sure that kid wants to be here.
Depends on how its handled really. I could still see him wanting to be on the same team as Panarin and Shesty and where else in the world would someone wanna live than New York so there's that too. I really hope it can be worked out, its the best case scenario for player and team.

Chytil has looked really good but if he doesn’t keep up that level no way is gallant taking out Reaves hunt or even a healthy Rooney for him come playoff time.

CCK is not a good idea. The Rangers have the pieces of a (theoretical) top level, playoff style, shutdown line staring right in the face at them. I’m not going to shut the door on that just to accommodate Chytil, who quite frankly has not deserved it. If they want to give Chytil a shot there while Kakko is hurt, sure why not. But last that? I’m not changing that up unless Chytil has shown a lot more than he has so far.

Drury made it sound like they are Braun as primarily a right side guy, so RIP to us with Braun-Nemeth
Not sure why anyone thought otherwise

The only reason Gallant has played Kakko and Lafreniere so much is because he had no choice

With Braun, Schneider will be rotating out and probably won’t get much of any minutes in the playoffs

Andrew Copp. The Rangers sign him to a six year extension worth $4.5M-$5M. The Rangers have their center to replace Ryan Strome. He was a group II free agent last summer. Winnipeg signed him to a one year extension. Minnesota has Ryan Hartman and Fredrik Gauthier at center. Boston has Erik Huala behind Patrice Bergeron. It's hard to find that big center option. The Rangers sign Copp to line up behind Mika Zibanejad. Chris Drury tried sign Phillip Danault last summer. That signing would have meant the end of Ryan Strome as a Rangers beyond this seaon. Copp is good on draws. The Rangers need a left handed shooting center who can win face-offs.

Meanwhile Canucks fans are still arguing about not getting a good return on Motte, a 4th line player who they would have lost for nothing if they hung onto him

What a day

Just hope he isn't Charlie Coyle and that he can grow into that 2C role. He'd be a very good option to play with Panarin.

I like Copp a bunch and would 10000% be behind giving him an extension if the money makes sense. He was originally the guy I wanted to land for Buchnevich.

He shouldn't be your 2nd line center though. I'll pay the money to play him on the 3rd line, but ideally, you're trading for a cost controlled option between him and Zibanejad. It doesn't have to be a stud, but it has to be someone better than Strome (or at least with a more versatile tool kit.) Maybe thats Copp, but I don't see it.

Head-out-of-his-ass Panarin who has been MIA for most of this season can function in ways you'd expect a "traditional" center to. In fact the biggest boost this team can get moving forward is for Panarin to go back to being Panarin 5v5.

But for next year onwards, all he really needs is someone who can complement him while bringing other positive attributes to the ice. I worry about Strome in the playoffs.

You know, what makes me like Gorton less as time goes on is how he was the only GM in like the last 30 years to negotiate a clause that upgrades the 2nd round pick we got from Tampa to a 1st only if Tampa wins the Cup. Every other trade only requires win 2 rounds or at most, at most, make it to the Cup Finals.

Are the Rangers going to play Copp at 2C to see what he’s got though? I’m doubtful

That trade sucked the second Gorton hung up the phone.

Ya, I don't remember exactly what was going on with McDonagh but it seemed like the rumors swirling around the team at the time pretty much sour the relationship. Not sure why it soured so much that Gorton HAD to trade him right there and then instead of finding a suitor in the summer.
