Copp is a good player but we gave up a real steep price for him. Don't like the condition on the 2nd round pick either, getting to the ECF is nothing. Sure, the Cup finals can be OK, its special, but....

I am OK with giving up Barron though. Very good hard working player in many ways, but just not a great fit in today's game and he has to work hard to get a chance.

Also a little disappointed that we couldn't recoup any assets.

BUT, overall, Drury was active and has given this team the best chance he could have given it to compete this spring, save for giving up a ton for Gourde.

Are we sure it’s a steep price? I really don’t think they gave up any prime assets today. I’m not going to miss anything that they traded. They can make up for trading the good pick by signing a college/Euro FA like the old days. Go get Ben Meyers for example.

And you think the Rangers aren’t going to try to do anything in the summer? Or at the next deadline? They could draft someone better. A lot can happen. They recognized Barron wasn’t good and acted accordingly. That can happen with any of those guys as well. Rangers are not going try to just sit on their hands. They are going to take some swings.
Sure they are but I'm confident 2 of the 3 will be on this team within 2 years. What happens after that who knows. They are good prospects.

I imagine Kravtsov and Georgiev for picks in the offseason

Lines as soon as everyone is healthy:

Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Chytil-Copp-Vatrano
Rooney-Goodrow-Motte

EX: Hunt, Reaves, etc.

This is a now very deep team. Chytil has legit linemates that can play. There are 4 bottom 6 guys that can kill penalties, could take some responsibility off Zibanejad and Kreider. Laf and Kakko are not blocked from top 6 roles that they can continue to grow in. McKegg, Hunt, Brodzinski, Gauthier, etc. do not need to see the lineup.

Miller-Trouba
Lindgren-Fox
2 of Jones/Braun/Schneider
Nemeth, Hajek

I'd switch Strome and Copp. I'd Even go as far as switchin Kakko and Vatrano. Let's see what Panarin can do with two guys willing to fetch and just go.

Rakell didn't seem to have much value. The Ducks ate 35% and also took two UFA cap dumps to get a 2nd and a goalie prospect.

Barron is not going to be a player. Too slow, nothing dynamic. And if Kakko and Laf don’t pan out we see screwed anyway so who cares about the picks.

Dryden Hunt goes from 2nd line to scratch? Interesting.

Biggest loser of the trading deadline day? Johnny B...

Tough to be a professional athlete. Hope ppl took notice of his play here and that he gets a new shot.
I think Brodzinski/McKegg get back into the team before someone like Gauthier and possibly even Chytil. I think Chytil has potential to be the biggest loser today.

Getting off-topic here 🙂
I'm 100% against what's going on over there. 1 life lost, is 1 too many. Unfortunately, like you.. there's nothing we can do but hope it ends, soon.
There’s plenty I’m doing but then if someone told me to shoot at kids I’d drop him, disappointed to hear you’d follow orders.

Barron is turning 24 next season and has looked meh in the chances he's gotten. Copp is heading into his prime and is a legit NHL player who does all the small things in addition to being an effective offensive player.

It's clear the Rangers think their window is opening.
Copp is a rental so it doesn’t matter if the window is ‘opening’. If we aren’t ready to compete in the playoffs NOW, then those two 2nds and a 5th were a waste.
