Weird no Seider. At 142 games now. Raymond unfortunately missed a few recently but had almost 140 straight.

He's there, was just behind Mercer when I took that screenshot, schedules have the same 5-6 players switching positions around the 20 place mark all the time.

On NHL.com is a short article on Mercer.

"They just told me [about the streak] out there actually, so it's a good feeling, obviously," Mercer said. "Every night when I go out there, I want to try to contribute offensively, but also be that responsible two-way player.
Yeah I'm sure the guy himself had no idea about his on-going goal streak. I mean, he's already scored 20 goals in 60 games this season, it's completely ordinary for him. This culture of pseudo humbleness is ridiculous.

You're completely misrepresenting the quote.

This is the full context of the quote:

“Mercer's assist made it seven straight games that he's registered a point and his goal made it seven straight with a goal as well for the New Jersey Devils all-time record. He's now one short of the franchise record for goal streak which was Paul Gardner who scored in eight straight games in 1977-78.

"They just told me out there, actually," Mercer said about breaking the streak record. "It's a good feeling.”

So you think he’s really concerned with looking up what the franchise record is?

What an insane take to insinuate he’s faking humbleness. Jesus.

It's true, in training camp the Devils force every player on their roster to memorize every single franchise record. At the beginning of the game, the coaching staff quizzes every player about various franchise record, and if they fail then they are scratched for that game.

The reason Timo Meier didn't dress last night isn't because of injury, that's a smokescreen. It's because they asked him what member of the Devils 1993 draft class has the most games played and he incorrectly guessed Jay Pandolfo. It's actually Brendan Morrison, so he had to sit a game. But I'm sure he'll come up to speed quickly.

I was not, am not. Don't know where you got that context, it wasn't in this article I read:

DENVER -- Dawson Mercer extended his goal streak to seven games and had three assists for the New Jersey Devils in a 7-5 win against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena on Wednesday.

The forward has 14 points (nine goals, five assists) during his streak. He has 20 goals in 60 games after scoring 17 in 82 as a rookie last season.
"They just told me [about the streak] out there actually, so it's a good feeling, obviously," Mercer said. "Every night when I go out there, I want to try to contribute offensively, but also be that responsible two-way player.
"But scoring goals is fun, and playing with Nico [Hischier] and 'Tuna' [Tomas Tatar], we've been having a great stretch right now and all contributing. And we just want to make sure we keep this going."

Truthfully I had no idea a franchise record was in question. The article I read and linked above doesn't mention it nor Gardner. Nevertheless it's not that I want to s*** on players, it was just a case (or so I thought) of a player having scored goals in seven consecutive goals and being seemingly oblivious to it, having to have teammates tell him about it.

Maybe there's a longer version of the article circulating somewhere? Anyway, that's all for me on this topic.

Under observations from the game section. Gives context of the quote about it being related to the franchise record.
