may be should it done once the generational player prove that he's really a generational player. Until now, and for the 3 years to come, he hasn't played a single game

I could live a lot better with the decision to pass on him if they had actually gone with any other pick than the "safe, steady" no. 2-3 D. Based on what I read I would have liked Leonard but whatever, they are the ones being paid to do the hockey stuff and will have to live with their choice.

Exactly and we all saw the backlash. How does equating the acts of an individual compare to that of a rapacious Nation.
The country itself is under sanction and also suspended from all international sporting events. Who are we to decide if our Organization takes the same line?

What’s far more telling is that this was a rare elite offensive talent that 5-6 teams made several attempts to get at. And how the Habs have not had a talent of this calibre in more than 30 years.

As good as Reinbacher could be, the shadow cast by missing out on Michkov is likely going to haunt this management contingent over the rest of their tenure.

The callers to BPM this morning were livid. They’re starved for an offensive superstar and feel that Hughes flubbed. No degree of apologism is going to change the fact that Hughes is on record that he was selecting the BPA and it doesn’t look like he made good on that promise.

I those 5-6 teams that call some actually wanted to trade up for Reinbacher and not Michkov

BPA is the best player rank on your list, Reinbacher was probably the higher rank player available on Habs list

There is no world where Reinbacher is better than Michkov. Absolutely none. Just face the fact he lied about always selecting the BPA and hope Reinbacher pans out.

You know i was talking for another junior player who is projected to go in the second round who sucks at D and at skating but is super good on the offense?

We drafted 3 x good D in the last 20 years, 2 in the first round and 1 on the second round. Mcdonaugh, Sergachev and Subban (the best of them all)

The only need we had at the D prospect pool was for a Right handed RD, not necessarily a top pairing RD. Instead of gambling on freaking Newhook and David Reinbacher we could of traded the 5th for the 15th + 24th + no1 Goalie prospect, Get our selfs 3 freaking top quality prospects in the first, 1 C, 1 Winger, 1 RD and on the second round get another top quality player. Maybe gamble on another RD? why not....

I do not hate Reinbacher but he's not a guaranteed top pairing D, we been hearing alot that Reinbacher was projected as a top 3/4 D.

I absolutly hate the Newhook deal though, i think we got fleeced on that one, i wont be surprised if 31 and 37 end up becoming stars in the NHL.

Adding insult to the injury... Hughes is walking around with Boston T-Shirts ? LIke wtf is going on here man...

I looked at the footage and he looked solid and not out of his element,smart player with tools.

So 6 management groups/administrations of professional sports teams whove been doing this job for years and years should all be sacked

And let me GUESS, they should hire you instead? Right?

Best Player Available is a thing people love to say, but there's an element of "need" in every draft pick, no matter the round.

The Ducks, Blue Jackets and Sharks wanted a center...that was an organizational need for all of them.

Since Habs picked Reinbacher, I really like the idea of having him in the system. Yeah ok, before the pick I wanted Benson, Leonard or Michkov. But with some my favorite guys about prospects in Hfboards @WeThreeKings and @Goldenhands who really liked Reinbacher and when I asked if he can have the same impact of a Moritz Seider, they say yes he can. I would be very happy to grab that type of D for Habs. So by the end of the day, I'm very happy with this pick. Guhle - Reinbacher have same qualities, they are stud D to me. Hutson will have great strong D with him... that's such a great news for the future of this team. Hutson is a star potential and adding a big two-way D like Reinbacher, will help his development.

100% fine with this pick. Newhook and Reinbacher? that's really really good job by Hughes, i'm a big fan of Newhook and he believe that he is going to be a solid top 6 forward for this team!

Slafkovsky is going to be a beast. I think people underrated the offensive talent of Slaf. He is a very good 1st overall pick even in a draft like 2022 (2022 isn't 2012 ok, 2022 is good, but 2023 is much better that's why).
 
Reinbacher a great prospect I just don’t see it has optimal value at 5th.
The other thing is that I haven’t had a chance to catch up with all the interview and video but from what I saw I’m not sure Reinbacher personality will strive in the MTL circus or that he was hoping to get pick by MTL. the best thing for him is at least expectation are pretty low… I just wish he reach is Celling or that media and fan won’t crush him if Michkov blossom in the NHL 3 years.

You think this draft is that deep?

Who are the top quality players you’re referring to at 15 and 24, as well as 31 and 37?

We’ve got too many prospects at this point and there is a 50 player limit. Eventually you have to trade some picks you can’t keep stacking them.
