I imagine the clause he was referring to is the transfer agreement.

But he wouldn't talk about having a clause if he wasn't under contract next year. So I doubt he's an FA.
Which contract did he sign for next season? With which team? Any links?

The thing is, in a vacuum, Reinbacher is a very exciting prospect. He had an exceptionally good year as an 18 year old in a pro year and has most of what you want for a three zone defenseman. Defensemen are harder to project than forwards and need more time but his projections are as good as any of the best defensemen out of Europe. He's definitely the best D prospect we had in years (although it's telling the best drafted defensemen in the last few generations, Markov and Subban, were not first rounders...)

But if Mitchkov is what he's hyped to be, this is one of the worst missed opportunities this organization has had. We haven't had an elite forward in decades now, and I'm sorry but Caulfield and Suzuki are great players but not enough by themselves. I think we could have done worse here but this organization still seems intent to just make the playoffs again and not be one of the most talented teams in the league.

Kent better get on the horn and justify this pick and it better be good. So much suffering for this garbage.

Well said.

Second pairing dman is his FLOOR. He has the potential to be our #1 dman playing over 25-30 minutes a games playing ultra efficient defensive hockey WHILE providing offensive support.

You guys will love the pick soon enough.
I’ll love the pick if he starts averaging 40+ points per season. Until then I’m not thrilled.

I don't think leaving him in Europe is a bad option, but hes already shown what he can do at that level. Time to take the next step, plus the Habs can have direct hands on development.
One very positive thing I’ll say about Reinbacher is that he’s very advanced. He’ll be a 19 year old rookie who’s played in a pro league and at the WCs against men and looked solid. Has a very mature game that should translate easily. Hopefully he comes over as I imagine he’ll be quick to arrive. He, Mailloux and Hutson could all be Habs by season end. The question then becomes, who of the D do we move out? Eddy, Savard and Matheson? We’re gonna have a lot of bodies on the back end.

This guy better be a number 1 Dman as I have said. What a disappointment this draft has been for the Habs.....We also don't have a pick until the third round like what?????

This is legitimately where I'm at. DR is probably a fine prospect, more than fine. But the sheer amount of hubris it takes to pick a D in what's projected to be a historically deep forward draft to me just makes absolutely no sense.

And I shouldn't be surprised at this point, because this is what we do. Every. Single. Time. Try to be the smartest team in the room, play it safe, quantity over quantity. I shouldn't be this disappointed because they do this every single time yet here I am.

That makes no sense.
We had no shot at Fantili, and nobody had Jiricek going 1st overall or even top 3 last draft.
I’m not saying we had the opportunity to draft Fantilli. But as two teams that were rebuilding, would you prefer to be Columbus or Montreal? These years were historically bad for the Canadiens. We had a first round pick, and Columbus best pick was a 3rd overall.

Jiricek is from last year’s draft. If he were healthy last year, I’m sure he would have challenged for first overall as he was in front of Nemec before his injury.

I’m just saying it’s probably part unlucky, part incompetence but I’m incredibly disappointed our two seasons resulted in this vs another team like Columbus.

I don't see why he can't achieve that. I see 50-60+ in him.

He already has almost .5 ppg in a men's league as a rookie. I don't understand why people say he has no offense, he already is contributing. He might not be Makar, Karlsson or Dahlin but he isn't Mike Komisarek either.

Whats so special with Guhle?
NHL: 44 games 18 pts vs Justin Barron 46 games 17 pts.

Jrs: KG 181 g 100 pts vs JB 186 g 114 pts

Barron needed AHL time. But Guhle top D?

Eric Faille, who plays with him, had some good comments on RDS.ca. He couldn’t believe the comments he was reading and hearing from Habs fans.

He’s adamant that this kid is for real and will be as good as Josi was. « The kid was 18 and was our PP QB. At 18! He did everything while playing in a pro league. He a complete defenseman. He will make you eat your words. » He was especially talking to Martin Lemay, who had previously said that if Reinbacher becomes as good as Josi, he’ll eat the piece of paper he was writing on.
