A scam you meant? I have no problem paying for quality journalism. Unfortunately, this is nothing like it.

No it's a paid site so clicks don't matter for them since you can't access the article. The goal of them is to provide quality journalism so you want to subscribe.

I thought it was an insightful article and they didn't pump Reinbacher's tires very much and even indicated that the games they saw during the trip were just okay viewings.

If course it is. It's clickbait. To be able to scam people into buying a subscription they need to click first.

The quoted parts here don't sound like anything you described. And again, we're talking about the same scam that claimed Reinbacher would be getting mostly secondary assists. This has nothing to do with journalism. No standards are met. It's a fraud.

It was a very well written in depth article by Arpon Basu, not a “fluff piece” - I liked the insights from Marc Crawford, Mark Streit and Kloten GM Larry Mitchell

Prospect coverage & predictions of Scott Wheeler & Corey Pronman (“secondary assist”) is completely different from team beat writers

Streit is a guy I've always hoped we could add to our organization somehow after he was done playing. Great mind on the guy and lots of varied experience under his belt. He could be a really good euro based scout for us.

Not saying it can't happen but Mark Streit is part owner and in the Management group of SC Bern which is the by far biggest hockey club in Europe. Mostly doing background work but I think he's still pretty involved with prospect/junior stuff. Not sure he's necessarily looking for something else right now.

So this weekend, Kloten is playing back to back games vs Rohrer's Lions, their local Zurich rivals. The Lions are in 2nd place and have the best point pace in the NL. However, Kloten won yesterday and they're up 2-0 in the 3rd in today's game as well. If they beat the Lions back to back in regulation then they would be just 3 points down of 12th place which would be good enough to avoid playdowns.

Did not look good for Kloten recently but beating a top team twice would mean that they still have a chance. If they manage to finish 12th, Reinbacher's season would end March 4.

edit: game just ended with Kloten winning 3-1.

Posted this in the wrong thread but just to say Reinbacher led Kloten in ice time again.

Huge pair of wins against a top 3 team and local arch rival

Yes. What stuck out to me is how solid Kloten was against the team with easily the most offensive firepower in the league.

I think it would be unfair to say that Beaulieu was the problem the entire time and I hate pointing fingers like that but I think his absence did help the team the last three games. He's just not good enough. Played heavy minutes but had no offensive impact while being a liability. I thought he was Canada's weak link at the Spengler Cup as well.

Kloten has really suffered from not having a single quality import on defense the entire season. They lost their top PK guy (Peltonen) in the offseason, Reinbacher missed a lot of games as well due to the Habs camp and injuries. Their lone import defenseman (Ekestahl Jonsson) who has been excellent for Kloten previously didn't get along with the new head coach, was in Fleming's doghouse the entire time and ultimately left for Sweden shortly before Fleming was fired himself.

So essentially Kloten was down their import defenseman , their top PK defenseman and their best defenseman (Reinbacher) for a lot of games. They eventually replaced Ekestahl Jonsson with Beaulieu but the latter was never good enough. On top of that, after the coaching change, Mitchell had Reinbacher play with Beaulieu instead of his regular partner Kellenberger 1...which I think was tough for Reinbacher as well.

Adding Sidler from Lausanne really stabilized Kloten. Then, when Beaulieu went down, they replaced him with veteran Nodari who was surprisingly good after sitting many games. Kloten also promoted Kellenberger 2 to the roster again who was good in limited playing time as well. Beaulieu going down also meant that Reinbacher got his regular partner (Kellenberger 1) back which definitely helped.

Won't be easy but if they can continue to play as solid as this weekend then I believe Kloten is most likely gonna finish 12th. Which, of course, increases the likelyhood of Reinbacher playing for Laval this season.

Yesterday's game was one of his best of the season, very solid game.
Just hope he doesn't have to play with Beaulieu again. Reinbacher is much better when playing with Kellenberger 1. I believe Beaulieu can play at NL level but a smaller role would definitely help him. Currently averaging almost 15mins at even strength, just a bit over a minute less than Reinbacher. That is far too much. He can still be effective for them but Kloten has to accept that Beaulieu isn't quite what they hoped he'd be.

Article states he’s likely headed to Laval once season ends in March

It absolutely does not state that, as Reinbacher was asked about the possibility and he did not provide a definitive answer one way or another as he said that he was not thinking about that right now. When pressed he said "maybe". Equating these benign statements to a confirmation that he will be in Laval in March is intentionally misleading and categorically incorrect and is exactly what always happens on this site.

He may very well end up in Laval this season but there is zero evidence to support this as being "likely" in this article.

I think it's playing style more so than the team he's playing for. Why keep the puck on your stick if you have the ability to make a quick play? Reinbacher loves fast paced hockey. He's got the elite hands and vision to quickly turn defense into offense. He also loves to join the attack with his team in possession. I'm sure he could adjust to heavy possession hockey as well but I'm not sure it would necessarily suit him all that much.

Regarding his draft season, as stated many times, the only comparable among active NHLers is Rasmus Dahlin. So to even question Reinbacher's upside is dumb. You don't dominate at the highest level in Europe if you don't have massive upside. Not in the first year of draft eligibility and as a defenseman.
Having watched DR at the WJC a couple tourneys ago, there was nothing this kid wasn’t doing against the best countries. Total stud. Made me think of Jiricek with a lesser point shot

Not official yet but this (credible) source claims that on Monday, Mitchell is gonna get replaced as Kloten's head coach by Italian Stephan Mair and may even get fired as GM as well.

That is surprising to me. I think that Mitchell is a good GM. He's a poor coach and that was visible in most games but the last two wins were rather convincing and the players are clearly still behind him.

Also, Kloten has two more games scheduled until Monday so I wonder if this dropped bomb forces Kloten to release a statement ahead of tomorrow's game vs Zug. In any way, this is quite the leak if true...which it most certainly is.

The game tonight between Boston U and Boston College is on TSN2.

Kloten won 5-4 in Overtime. That's three straight wins for Kloten. They are now 1 point behind Rapperswil for 12th with same number of games played. 12 pts behind 11th so that's out of the question.

If they manage to finish above Rapperswil, Reinbacher comes to North America on March 4th.
What happens if they finish below the Will of the Rapper ?

Correct which will delay reinbacher by about a month.

That depends on how many games they have to play. Kloten's season could be over 23 March if they win playouts in four. If they have to play all seven games of league qualification then their season would end 14 April.

Btw, it's by no means guaranteed that Reinbacher is gonna board a flight to Canada once Kloten's season ends. Should Kloten's season end early that just increases the likelyhood of it happening. From what I understand there are no concrete plans and they'll evaluate the situation once they know more. It's gonna be complicated either way because Reinbacher has to hold down his 50% job as a headhunter until July I believe. He's gonna have classes until July, too and will have to write exams in the summer as well. Apparently remote work and classes would be possible but I'm not sure about the exams. Probably not. Also not sure it makes sense for him to fly to Canada for as long as he can't really focus on hockey. We'll see.
