You don't win cups without elite talent. We have 0 of it. 2 years into the rebuild and no 1C, D or G. That's a failure. Chicago tanked for 1 year and came away with their franchise 1C and likely a 2C in Moore.

We have no clue how this plays out

1 yr in rebuild really. Slaf draft was Bergy supposedly competing and failling

I had Reinbacher as #6 best player in this draft. Do we see him 1 more season in Swiss or straight to the AHL?
He said he wanted to finish school and work (?) before coming over, so Swiss league again next year.

OK, Vachon, I respect you a lot. So I would like for you to give us your best sales pitch on the guy. Why was he worth more than the Russian phenom or the other forwards that went after?
The Russian wasn’t being draft by the Habs, I made my morning on him longtime ago and wasn’t even considering him

No forward that was available can have the impact Reinbacher can have. If he reach his potential, that guy gonna eat a lot of major minutes and gonna be a major piece that any teams wants to win the Cup. Maybe not the most flashiest, but I’m taking a guy like him (Petrangelo, Suter, McAvoy type of Dmen) before a Quinn Hughes to build a Stanley Cup champio team

oh well the Habs have a history over the last 30 years of messing things up, why stop now? Can’t believe we left Michkov for the Flyers, sucks.

I’m not the biggest fan of analytics, even if I’ll look at them for time to time.

Reinbacher will easily convince you that he’s a good player on the eye test alone. He’s smart, fast and can get the puck out of his zone to the other zone quickly.
Ok, give me more ammo here. Sell him to me. Because telling me that he can get the puck out of his zone and to the other zone quickly is not saying much. Harris can do that. And he's a 6th.

If we're daydreaming, its more like:

Hutson-Reinbacher
Guhle-Barron
2 of Xhekaj, Harris, Mailloux, Engstrom, etc.

I like Guhle, but both Hutson and Reinbacher have massive upside. More upside than Guhle.

One thing is for sure, Montreal has one of the best prospect/young NHLer groups in the league.
The Xhekaj - Mailloux pairing has an intriguing dynamic to it. Big powerful skaters with lots of game.

I remember watching Seider and Jiricek in their draft years and thinking they were going to be great. Did the same this year with Reinbacher and did not see it. I will cheer and support him all the way, but, at this moment, I have doubts. I have been impressed with almost all of HuGo's decisions so far, but I have an uneasy feeling about this one. I would have picked Leonard.

Comparisons aside, what do you see in him?

They also have a potential top D Korchinsky, they have Reichel and Nazar among others.

I’m curious of Chris Boucher’s take on Orville Redenbacher… I suspect he had him highly ranked

Same.

I don't SEE it tbh..........

But, who knows.................

I see a serviceable Top-4......

But I don't see a star.....

Lol are you actually arguing that the russian factor isn’t a thing? Kid fell to 7th, not 24th. Get a grip you’re just being intellectually dishonest. You really think there’s a realm where Dâvide gets called prior to Mitchkov if the kid is from Moosejaw? Lmao
Incredible irony here. Lmao well done.

Big Dmen that will eat a lot of minutes, excellent in transition will kill play against other team top forward As much against the rush then against the cycle. Really good stick and not shy to be physical.

Got a really good shot and his offensive abilities are understated. Won’t deke 2-3 players with the puck but can easily find passing lines . Very poise with the puck and extremely calm on the ice. Never seem to have panic in his game.

No big weakness in him and he have all the tools that I’m looking in a #1 Dmen

the board totally needs to cool off. lol. I also wanted the elite forward, but when the big 4 were selected, they felt this kid had enough upside that they were prepared to ignore the elite wingers in michkov and to a lesser extent leonard.
The habs are building a pretty scary D and that's good.
There's obviously much work to do and i'm hoping there are some deals there to find another elite scorer to compliment Caufield - and we need a goalie
