Bustbacher...that like Tkabust a few years ago. Worst fan base in the league.
you mean the same fan base that wanted Brady over stupid Bustniemi and snapped when we traded Sergachev for Drouin? Don't think we are that bad, team would be further ahead.

One thing's for sure: 3-4 years from now Reinbacher, Slafkovsky and Newhook better pan the f*** out and become key contributors on this team or Voldemort and bust expert Gorton are donezo. One of Dach/Suzuki better become a PPG #1 center too cause we won't have a chance to draft one anytime soon.

Feels like I've been on a rollercoaster the past few hours.

When the pick was announced I hated it. Then it immediately starting growing on me and as of 9:00pm I'm pretty damn excited about it.

Besides michkov who would have realistically been a better choice? Ryan Leonard would have been solid. But overall impact on a game, would he bring more impact than reinbacher could?

I honestly love this pick. His tools are very nice. VERY nice.
I really wanted the homerun swing on MM. But if the choice was Reinbacher vs Leonard I'll go with who the Habs took. Maybe he's not going to be a true #1D but he at least has a chance. Draft Leonard and the team still needs to find a 1D and we somehow come out of two high drafts with wingers but no #1C and no #1D.

Ok, give me more ammo here. Sell him to me. Because telling me that he can get the puck out of his zone and to the other zone quickly is not saying much. Harris can do that. And he's a 6th.
The kid can do everything. 6'2.5, 190lbs. Strong skater. His best attribute is his defense. He's big, physical, and closes gaps quickly. He gives guys no time and space to enter the zone. Loves to step up and get in attackers faces. He kills the play, wins the puck back, and gets it out, whether with his strong outlet pass, or by skating it himself. He's still growing into his body and already a real good skater, when he gains more strength he'll be even better at carrying the puck.

His biggest 'weakness' is his offense, but it's barely even a weakness. He put up 0.5ppg in a top European league. The Swiss league is probably the most popular league right now for ex-nhlrs/expats, so it's not a weak league. That's the best production there as a draft eligible ever behind the one and only Auston Matthews. He had bettsr production than Roman Josi's draft year. He makes efficient passes and likes to engage offensively. As the year went on we saw him start to take more risks and challenge defenders 1 on 1 as he became more confident. And he's got a real strong shot that gets through to the net with consistency.

The kid has all the tools to be a top pair guy, and the character to boot. If he's in North America the hype train is way crazier. He was an unknown prior to this season and slowly rose up the rankings each quarter until, here we are, drafted at 5. He's the slam dunk best D in the draft and has been my favorite prospect this season since probably December. Defense wins championships and this guy will help us get there.

Big Dmen that will eat a lot of minutes, excellent in transition will kill play against other team top forward As much against the rush then against the cycle. Really good stick and not shy to be physical.

Got a really good shot and his offensive abilities are understated. Won’t deke 2-3 players with the puck but can easily find passing lines . Very poise with the puck and extremely calm on the ice. Never seem to have panic in his game.

No big weakness in him and he have all the tools that I’m looking in a #1 Dmen

Definitely.

Guhle, Mailloux, Reinbacher, Hutson, Xhekaj, and Engstrom. I really like this D-corps.
LOL People tripping. Those D are going to be worth a lot in the not too distant future. Let's pretend we won't be able to move any of them for a decent haul or even a blockbuster trade. It's awesome having so many members who know how to build out a team from basically scratch. :sarcasm:

This to me is the problem. This wasn't a draft for defenseman. And the habs didn't go after the BPA. That's what is heartbreaking. We got a second pair defenseman with a 5th overall pick. That is bad asset management.

Ok, you compare him to the Vegas guy, but if I read this, I see Hedman?

I don’t hate the pick but I’m disappointed at the same time. Kind of the same feeling when we drafted Slaf.

Reinbacher is currently the best Dman in the draft. Best in 5 years? Dunno, but being a RHD and having his current tools, I get why they’d choose him over the other players (though I wanted Michkov).

Hoping at worse, we get a #3 D in Reinbacher which is more valuable than second line wingers which is where I see most of the wingers other than Michkov.

Good player though so I expect to warm up to him over the next few days but NGL, I’m not terribly thrilled at this moment.

Eric Faille a teammates of Reinbacher said a look of good things in an interview earlier. Sad in some way but when you just look at the player, He had a lot of say to say about him

Was running the PP with their team
Better season than Josi at the same age
Just kept improving since the beginning of the year
Physical
Reserved
Looked bigger than 6'2''
Available to play with the rocket next year

HF Habs absolutely did NOT want Tkachuk at the time of the draft. The vast vast majority of the posters on this board viewed him as having no offensive upside and thought he’d be nothing more than a 3rd liner. I remember this very well. Some posters even had “anyone but Tkachuk” as their signatures.
